if you actually live in a country other than your homeland for a specific time then when you move back home again it would be possible to bring in lots of personal effects incl. a vehicle with no taxes to pay.
simply buying a car and leaving it in the states for a year isn't going to save you any import duties.
i don't live in the uk but i did save a not inconsiderable amount when i bought my san diego ghia here from a guy who'd spent a lot of money getting it street legal here after he'd bought it from the guy who'd spent plenty shipping it to europe and then importing it into switzerland..........

depending on how long she's staying in the usa you MIGHT be able to arrange something to get away with a "personal import".
i don't know the rules for the uk but check the customs and excise website. vehicle will have to have been street legal in her name for a while in the states and i expect she woudn't be allowed to sell it for a year or so, but that shouldn't be a problem. :idea: |
