Thanks for taking the time and putting this list together, it will come in handy for a lot of folks. There are a few items on the list which aren't a 67 only items. I undertand your list is made up of prior posts. One of them is the tack strip for the convertible. The tack strip was also used in prior years to secure the top. However, it was during the 67 model year that Volkswagen changed to using tension cables in place of the tack strip. Also, on early 67 convertibles mainly you will find the three chrome trim items on the top. One on the rear bow, the chrome ring around the rear window, and the chrome strip the goes around the bottom of the top on the belt line.
Also, the interior light housing is the same as a 66 just has a 12 volt bulb in it. The 67 front fenders are a one year only however, I think the rear fenders are not. The rear apron did change but the fenders remained the same as I remember.
Once again thanks for putting this list together. Some of us have our own lists but it is nice to see the way you have it all listed. Thanks  |

You're right, I read that wrong about the dust cover. As far as the 1500 emblem goes, no problem, I went ahead and corrected that too.
Thanks! |

Happy to help, and happy to be among the '67 owners too.
I went ahead and edited the list a little. For those that don't want to read through the entire thread it'll be a big help. I'm happy to keep the list up too so as corrections or additions need to be made, I'll watch out for them and make changes as need be. |

I am about to recover the seats for my 67. I have a pair of seats out of a 69, which I have cut the headrest portion off and made into lowbacks. I need to know if actual 67 lowbacks had this plastic cousion/tube that runs along the seat back frame on both sides. The one pictured was on the highbacks that I converted.
They seem to me like a safety feature for rear seat passengers. In the event of a head on crash, they wouldn't crack thier knees on the bare seat frame in front of them. They may also be there to compensate for the thickness of the 69s headrest padding. I need some clarification here.

Bill,
You say that "high latch" have them.... then you say that your "high latch" seats did not have them. Which one is it?

That threw me, too :-k .
So the early seats with low seatback release dont have them, but the later '67 seats with the higher seatback release do have them. You say your late '67 with high latch did not have them. Does that mean your car should have had them but didnt? |

OK, now that we have that cleared up.....
What was the width of the running board chrome on a 67? WW sells 10mm, 17mm and, 30mm, Cip1 sells 10mm, 18mm, and 32mm.... |

| the 67 doors were also used in early 68. getting the correct window regulator for my early 68 was a major PITA, its a 67 style regulator with a threaded hole for the window crank. |

so you are stating that early 68 did not have threaded sleeve for outside mirror, but had hinge pin mirror? 67's had threaded hole in regulator splines but did not have screw in the window winder handle. in fact 1965 and 1966 had threaded hole in spline. |

by looking down into top of both carbs. one is missing a brass tube-that is 66.. glutamodo has pictures of missing circuit. |

Ahh forgot about that, i wasnt thinking about the outside, just the inside where the regulator is.
Hmm, my regulator is a 67 and earlier and it does not have threads, and neither does my friends 67. must be an aftermarket mistake. |

You can also find it by looking at one of your valves when it falls off the carb, gets sucked into the intake manifold and gets lodged in the engine  . I was lucky. When mine fell off it only made a lot of noise for a little bit and then apparently either embedded itself in the top of the piston, or got farted out the exhaust valve without getting hung up.
