the front wrap around stainless steel hood handle that came on all 67 beetles is not a 67 only part, they came on mid 66 on up beetles as well.

How bout the steering wheel? I just a purchased a 67 (still not towed home), but the steering wheel is not the awesome looking one with the chrome half shape ring. Many parts are original, but I haven't brought it home to molest it yet. From memory, the wheel is like the sport version.

Gina, here is a photo from my buddy Nimbus' gallery. It has the proper gloss black steering wheel and the chrome ring. '67s and '66s shared the same steering wheel and horn ring. However, in '68 the horn ring lost the chrome finish in favor of a painted matte silver finish (like my friend HenryM has improperly installed on his '67 :? ). At any rate, here's Nimbus' proper '67 steering wheel :)

Which one of these VW1500 scripts would be correct for a Euro 67? In the top picture, the "15" is bigger than the "00". The connector bar that holds it together is in different locations as well, one low and one in the middle.

This one was said to come off a 68 model.

The first one looks like a Type 3. The second looks correct for Type 1.

I do not know if this has been covered yet, but there are early and late '67 door hinge/pins as well. Some use a black plastic dust cover to plug up the recessed top, and others are flush on top. You rarely spot this unless there is a mix-match door that has been replaced (or pin that has been R&R'd), which makes spotting the difference in hinges more easily. I couldn't tell you which is which; early or late, but I ran into this when replacing a door.... Another '67 headache.

And about the front fenders.... Not only is the horn grille hole in a different location, but the entire headlight is also different. The headlight location is higher and to the outside on a MX fender, compared to a OG one. I would also imagine that the park light could also out of whack.

I am 98% positive that the front trunk lid is the same as '66 and earlier. Any body with suggestions on replacing door handles on a '67?

Hello i am new on this forum
I have a question about the carburator. Mine is a 28 pict -2 on a vw 1300 (euro model). I wonder if it is an original. I am not shure of this.

Sorry if my writing is not good

What do you mean about the door handles? How to take them out? or are there any other years that will work?

You don't replace the door handles, you rebuild them. Either HotVWs or VWTrends (I can't remember which) did a story on rebuilding the handles many years ago as they are a one year only. The other thing you can do is to buy them at a junk yard every chance you can. I have a three sets just in case. You can pull them apart and key them to match the key you have.

Another unique difference for the US spec '67 beetle is the Z-bar equalizer spring above the rear swing axles. This disappeared the following year with the introduction of double-jointed axles.

I think the 67 z-bar setup is slightly different than the 68+ one. But all manual trans 68's are swingaxle and have a z-bar (even US ones  )

Yes, just look at the steering wheel, not the tires or wheels
