Funny I have a nice CD Player in my bus but never turn it on!

There is one song that I like to play when I'm on my way home from whatever road trip I'm on...

Queensryche - Jet City Woman

But any upbeat music works, as a rule.

Isnt she doing Christian music or mission work these days?

For music I have a stack of CDs that go in and out of rotation, pretty much all the Dead's studio albums up to '75. Other favorites include, Traffic - Mr. Fantasy; Moby Grape, The Band, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Santana (all debut albums); Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates Of Dawn; Led Zeppelin I, II, III, Physical Graffiti, In Through The Out Door; Number one on my list is Garcia - The Wheel. "Sugaree" is a great cruising song. Park the bus, set the CD to "An Odd Little Place" hop in the back and kick it with that special someone and let it play through "The Wheel".

I have about 50 CDs and another 30 or so tapes of the same flavor from the psychedelic era and I never get tired of playing them. It's not often I play anything contemporary in it. If I do its usually something I picked up at a music festival in the CD tent. Good times need a soundtrack. remember to keep it low so you can hear the engine.

What? No rap or screech metal? You're obviously an old fart too. Nice suggestions.

Ska! In any bus, any day, anywhere.

And in particular, in the splitty, Toots & the Maytals!

In the Bay, late at night, Beatles & Stones.

Smurf: "Travellin' in a fried out Kombi, on a hippy trail head full of zombie...." Yeah dude!

And other classics like a whole bunch of you have already said...

Cheers, A.

she was at country fair in eugene last month. oooph. if i clipped a donna wail and used it on the phone machine people might stop leaving messages. when my mother passes away i swear the first person calls i'm shooting the phone.

music in a bus.. anything hooker, dylan, chris smithers and neil young for story telling; capt. beefheart, ween for the absurd. garcia, jj cale, jorma -always got one. ornette coleman late night.

VWBusrepairman Wed Aug 16, 2006 4:21 pm

"The Cage" by Sonata Artica and some times, "Full Moon" same artist. Occasionally, I'd like to throw on some Iron Maiden to get the Holy Rollers going. "Magic Bus" from The Who fits my bus nicely as well. Buses and music- seem to go hand-in-hand!

I think any QR is a good pick. I prefer 'Operation Mindcrime'. Yes, the entire album! Joe Satriani is good bussin' music for me and mine. The Cars 'Greatest Hits'. Dream Theater and Sevendust. Godsmack. Judas Priest and the Scorpions. Sammy Hagar and Van Halen. Tesla. Iron Maiden's 'Powerslave'. The list is long!

Spring 1990 Live Grateful Dead.

Fall 1994 Live Phish.

That's about all I need.

MrBreeze Wed Aug 16, 2006 5:18 pm

I listen mostly to the 70's channel on my XM. Or a mp3 cd that has about 150 various songs on it.

Wow, Step, that sounds like my vinyl collection.

My CD collection tends to be a wildly eclectic mix, mostly world music and jam bands and, of course, CDs of GD and friends that I don't already have on vinyl. Unfortunately I don't currently have a working sound system in either bus, so I listen to my thoughts and the sounds of the engine and the street. 8)
