Just been listening to some new music, and I think that Cross Canadian Ragweed is great traveling music, and also Citizen Cope, and I never leave home without Peter Case in the car.
Seems there is a new wave of good music coming out that meets my no hip hop sensibilities. Diggin' it! |

I re-installed my stereo system a few nights ago. After turning it on, I went for a CD to hear it thump.. I first grabbed the old trusty Primus CD from 93.. I turned it up only to find that it did not sound as nice as I wished it would.. I ran back inside and grabbed some Old And In The Way, a bluegrass group with Jerry Garcia and David Grisman, Tony rice, Vaser Clemmons, etc.. I put that in and instantly had a smile, hell, the wife even popped out of the cabin to say it sounded nice, then recommended a test drive.. Drove around the island waking my geriatric neighbors, but they can just be happy it wasn't with Primus..
Funny thing is, I liked metal and punk only when I was a teen, went on dead tour at 17, bought my first bus at 21( after having 2 bugs and a square). Here 15 years later I find that I have spent more money replacing my old metal and punk than buying newer reggae, folk, bluegrass, jam band stuff.. Master of puppets is gret in my Expedition, but not so calming while downshifting to go up a mole hill. Now it looks like I will be making a CD case for the bus full of reggae, bluegrass and jam bands.. |

- The Tragically Hip
- Fred J. Eaglesmith
- Sublime
- Aggrolites
- The Pogues
- Dropkick Murphys
I listen to pretty much everything, but for some reason these seem to be in heavy rotation when I'm behind the wheel in Oscar. |

14 pages and no mention of the Boss??? Thunder Road.?.. Born in the USA?
Also love the Dead. All those Classic rock and reggae bands mentioned before. John Coltrane. My Favorite Things. Miles Davis and a list of bee bop era jazz too long for me to list. |

Rock and Roll, beginning with the Beatles and ending just before disco, when around other people. And rock music from the brief era when MTV was good.
Postwar harmonica blues when alone. |

| Call me old (ok, at 38 I guess I AM old...) but I only listen to AM on the factory radio when I'm driving the bus. I don't know why but it's cathartic in some ways. |

T. Rex
Bang a Gong
My stock horn (and perhaps your horn too) is perfectly tuned to the driving rhythm guitar. I play along (beep-beep) when assured I will not annoy other drivers. It doesn't get any better. |

When I have been driving it on permits / working on it at home the selection is very widely varied. I use one of those FM transmitter things with either an SD card, USB stick or my PMP which I only use for an MP3 player connected to it.
I have a few of those tape adapter things kicking around but don't much care for them. Apparently they have higher quality output, but I'd need higher quality ears to take advantage.
What I listen to:
Some of the GTA:VC soundtrack. Good selection of '70s and '80s music.
System of a Down.
Rammstein.
Kraftwerk.
The B-52's sometimes. usually 1st and 2nd albums.
the Eels.
Various electronic/dubstep/chiptune remixes/other miscellanea.
Rob Zombie.
Metallica.
Pink Floyd.
etc.
i help out with discos / karaoke so there are a wide selection of songs that I didn't mind but can no longer stand, so my choices are pretty dynamic. |
