I just listen to the sweet engine sounds.
Went to an Arlo Guthrie concert a few years ago and one of their tremendous numbers was about hanging out in an old VW bus. Anyone know what that was??? |

I'm absolutely shocked that nobody has mentioned Jimmy Buffet. I guess he must be a southern thing but his music SO compliments the "laidbackness" of the typical bus owner. If it is possible for a "Bus" to have an attitude, I would have to say that Jimmy Buffet's attitude would be a perfect match.
Got so tickled to see NWA mentioned! My wife can sing every single word to one of their CD's. NWA's "F#@K the Police" is a wondrful addition to any drive, especially after getting a ticket.
What about the bluegrass version of Jin'N Juice? "So much drama in the LBC..." Just the thought of that song makes me want to drink (at home). |

| I think it is just so cool and it gives you a certain vive, when you hear old classics when driving your bus from that time period. It just all goes together. :) |

I don't have any in-dash tunage but I like listening to my engine running. (that is, when it's running). When working on it I like...
Any Crosby, Stills & Nash
American Pie
Mofro
Blue Rodeo
Lowest of the lows
There's one song that always reminds me of working on my bus and I don't know who sings it but it goes..
Low-Ri-der ----take a little trip, take a little trip with meee. |

What, no Zappa. Gotta love Apostrophe.
Blues Brothers. Peter Gunn Theme.
Ram Jam. Black Betty.
Mitch Rider and the Detroit Wheels. Devil With A Blue Dress.
Can't remember who did it but the original Hot Rod Lincoln. Just found it, it's Ray Stevens!
I could go on and on but I won't.
I like listening to a happy machine doin' it's job on the road too, sweet music to my ears.
Funny though, my hearing isn't what it used to be. I have a hard time undestanding what people say, unless they speak slightly louder than normal and clearly. Just let one of my cars make a new noise and I can hear it. Me " What's that noise? " She, "what noise, I don't hear anything." Me " you can't hear that? It's going ting a ring a ding dong, sounds like it's coming from your side" She I don't hear anything." :D

pulling down an exit ramp heading onto the interstate on the way camping or where ever one of my favorite "heavy metal" is
Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner. at full blast. The sound of the horns and intensity of the music coming down the ramp to mingle with tractor trailers and all just seems right.
I like just about everything from Pink Floyd to Shooter Jennings. And good Texas country, not the Nashville garbage.
African or South American can be very good too. Lots of percussion rhythms interconnecting. 70's rock, 80's new wave (Depeche Mode, Erasure etc.
and Folk music to boot. When it comes to tunes being eclectic is the best thing. And can't forget Ted Nugent either |
