Thanks Splitdog. Yes it's my car now. The car has been around for a while, but not been on the road much since it was restored in 1999 (at Koch's).

Car has well documented history with the owners back to 1975 listed. The last 3 owners are well known and active on the Samba. I think you probably know the gentlemen that had the car restored in 1999 pretty well.

Info I have listed the color as Taben Blue. I have not found any info on the color, but it is a very dark blue. Looks black most of the time. I really like the color, very unique.

The color of the car is called dark blue L32. It is very dark blue, looks black at certain angles . It's a great color and is correct for a 50 split. That was a very nice restoration. I remember that car well, as I helped build it back then. Car still shows well. Congrats.

Belairman thanks for the info on the color, and your work on the car. It still looks very nice. I am looking for pictures of the car during or prior to restoration. If you can help, or know who might have some, please PM me. Thanks, Jeff.

My '53 Zwitter as found/purchased yesterday.

This is going to keep me busy for a while, but it's remarkably solid, and complete... except for the engine and glass. The p/o bought it from a scrap yard in 1967, and it's been sitting in his barn until last year, when the barn collapsed.

macnut, was that car owned by a guy named Jason?
If so, I shot that car, along with his New Beetle, for the cover of VW Trends Magazine way back when...

A bunch of old geezers hang out at the local Starbucks on Sunday mornings with their hotrods, so I decided to take my '52, which was the youngest car of the group.

the only thing that doesn't really blend in the view, (a nice view btw  ) is the radio. a becker monza or a telefunken would have been much more appealing 8)

that's a very expensive interior right there!

ps. i counted ~19 accessories/extras

Thanks for the props. I've been collecting this stuff for a few years and finally decided to put them to use.

Here's a better shot of the radio.

It came with the car, I had Willie Wilkes restore it for me.

My favorite accessory is the map light in place of the original ash tray.
