Oh yes there is.
Here's a hint for you. The difference cannot be unbolted and changed. |

Probably true, but not the major difference I'm looking for. |

Why would the roof be any different at the rear? |

Oh ya! :D
Why? I've been asking that myself for the last year since I noticed this. |

I checked the micro fiche and they do have different part numbers. But that's because the cowl at the front window is part of the roof.
OK... spill it. |

| It's at the rear. Your line drawing won't show it. Refer back to the photos. |

Might be, but that is not as blatently obvious as the difference I am looking for. |

I don't smoke, so just throw money!
I'd guess there must be a quality or cost reason. There being a new roof stamping to design, VW took the opportunity to put in fewer slots...it was either easier/cheaper to make the new dies or they decided there would be fewer production problems. Another possibility is the total area open to the air is a bit more on the super.
edit: It's got to be the total open area...fewer slots=fewer vertical members. If the width of the verticals is the same between standards and supers you get more open area in the same space. |

| Now is that true for a 1303 and 1303? Or does the 1302 also have 50 slots? |

Now explain what that has to do with lowering the rear. |
