1302s have 50 slots. Only 1303 sedans have 42.

Go back and read the context of my statement that you said was erroneous.
I've been waiting to see if you would figure it out.

From the gallery... 1302 with 50 slots. They only did a new roof section for the curved window models. Amazing.

More likely is that you assumed Supers and standards were identical in all respects at the rear.

Brush up on your reading comprehension.

Me too, never thought to actually count the slots.

Bruce and Scott, take it easy, we all respect what you say and offer, just don't get on each others "bad side".

Here's what tipped me off:

I bought the black trim piece and it didn't line up.

I have no problem with Bruce. Life's too short to worry about that sort of nonsense.
The value of his contributions here are beyond reproach and are greatly appreciated.

Now, that question is, did this difference extend back to the 71-72 vents??

Nope.

Guys, one quetion more, the brazilian beetle coming to USA toooo?

Bruce Wed Sep 03, 2008 12:27 am

Brazilian Beetles were never imported to the USA. I do not know how many slots are used in a Brazilian car.

Mexican Beetles used 50 slots like all Beetles from '58 onwards, (except for 1303s). In fact, the last pic I posted of the red car with the black trim is a Mexican Beetle.

Russ Wolfe Wed Sep 03, 2008 5:13 am

And Brazil used their own metal stampings.

Sakajama Wed Sep 03, 2008 11:29 am

thanks Bruce for answer my question, I´m questing for one last piecture in the post see a german beetle whith 15inch brazilian wheels, the brazilan bug it's twin a 60' german bug all the body of the car it's twin a the 60' bugs the slots too.

Is there a difference between the metal sunroofs on a super and a standard? or are parts interchangeable?

Russ Wolfe Thu Sep 18, 2008 9:30 am

No, the sunroofs are not interchangeable. Even the cables are different.

ashman40 Thu Oct 09, 2008 9:27 am

In a recent Hot VW mag article on building a street/strip transmission it was mentioned that the Super came with a more robust (wider) manual transmission 1st gear. This made it more desirable/stronger when building a race tranny.

Would that also count as a difference between "Beetles" and "Super Beetles"? A difference that exists at the rear?

Does anyone know which year Super this applies to? Or is it ALL Supers?
