This 57 oval is on e-bay with 4 Lug wheels. Car sits like it is on a late model pan? Shouldn't a 57 oval have wide 5 wheels?

| Yes, it should have wide 5. It has a '64 engine, so it may also be on a '64 pan. This should affect the value. |

Even a 1964 pan/transaxle/front beam would have 5 on 205 pattern...
Sounds like it is either a 67 pan that somebody switched drums on, or a 68 pan, or an IRS pan... |

64 wouldn't have 4 lug wheels. The engine doesn't appear to be from a 64 either. Kind of makes everything suspect. Not a bad price for a driver if it is rust free. I would certainly suggest looking carefully at it in person before buying it. |

That what the seller stated in their ad. But then again, the ad reads "restored" but a car of that vintage never came with those wheels  |

It's not on a late pan. The interior shot shows the heater knob placement which would be correct on a '57. Maybe during it's restoration, the restorer simpy installed late drums because they couldn't locate the correct 1953-57 drums.
Either way, it's a simple fix by just replacing the wheels & brake components to the right stuff. |

Nice looking car. Strange, though- the rear stance looks correct for an IRS trans, yet like observed above, the interior has the old heater knob and the shifter is bent, which will not work with a full IRS pan swap. "Maybe" the frame head and entire rear frame horn/torsion bar housing was chopped off and IRS units welded on, to maintain the original chassis# stamping in the tunnel? Lots of work, but state of MA might be quite picky as to modifications.
Engine is a dual-port; you can see those intake manifold end castings. Engine is choking for air with that closed decklid.
Taillights are too high. :(
Still, a fair price at moment (on 9-2-06). You'd have to examine it in person to reveal the true extent of restoration repairs and the chassis mystery. |

that's the ugliest color combo ever. and an Oval with those wheels is just wrong :(
It amazes me how people try to sell stuff and they don't know jack about it. Wonder what the reserve is |
