Scott Faivre wrote: Wow! Those are some nice cars! I have met some Thai VW fans, but none from the Philipines. Your club looks great!
When was the last year VW sold Beetles in the Philipines?

Thanks a lot, Scott. Indeed, there are a lot of quality restored vws in the Philippines. Volkswagen Club of the Philippines is the biggest car club in the Philippines. With several chapters around the country.
In the mid 70's, German made beetles were discontinued being sold in the Philippines. Hence, Brazillian beetles were then introduced, marketed and sold in the Philippines. As far as I can remember, the last brazillian beetle was sold in the Philippines in 1980. Thereafter, DMG, the main vw dealer in the Philippines, closed, and, Japanese cars (or we call them J.J. I'll PM you the meaning), became the next batch of cars dominated the Philippine busy streets.
Do visit our website at www.vwcp.org.
I' ll post some more pictures of vws here in the Philippines.
Again, thanks a lot for appreciating our vws. Do check out our 1967 Karmann Ghia vert; 1971 1302s Supper Bug and 1970 type 3 Fastback.

| When I last visited the Phillipines (Oct 2000), I travelled through Manila, Quezon City, Davila & Illocos. I saw only 1 Beetle in the provinces. Where were they all hiding? :? |

I think it's a 68 or 69 bug RareAir...about the wheels, i'm not sure if it's a dayton (we hardly see any wire wheels here in the philippines) but yeah, it's a wire wheel. Sorry if I can't answer your question... :( |
