View original topic: Too Many Freakin' Ads!!!

Jesus F#@$"in' Christmas! How about a limit on the number of ads one person can post at one time, maybe 20 or 25? I get REALLY tired of seeing people with well over 100 ads, and it seems as if they post in groups of 10 or more at a time. BORING and ANNOYING! Especially when an ad gets REPEATED over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over.... If you need to list it so many times GET THE MESSAGE that it's either TOO EXPENSIVE or NOBODY WANTS IT and stop posting it. Geez, put more than one part in an ad. With the space available for both pics and descriptions, there is no reason to just have one part in an ad. Make the title interesting so people will look at the ads to see what parts may be there. I even think Everett asks people to do that when posting ads, but obviously this goes unnoticed.
If you need to have this many ads, you should GET YOUR OWN WEBSITE, and stop leeching, or give Everett/TheSamba 10% of every sale, or maybe Everett should charge a fee to post a For Sale ad (I think Wanted ads should remain free), maybe like $.25. But think of all the work involved with that.........

I tend to agree with you and have been thinking about this for a while.

Right now, there are only 25 people with more than 25 ads each so it is definately a minority.

I encourage bulk ads listing grouping or all of your parts but I also do not go through and delete ads that break this rule.

Yes, there would be some work involved in having to charge people for every ad.

I do try to delete duplicates so if you notice some, feel free to email me the link(s).

The listing of 50 adds in a row is annoying when all by the same seller. But grouping your parts in one add puts the seller at a huge disadvantage. If Im selling an 010 dizzy, set of Fuchs, and an nos set of deluxe trim, the heading only has room for one of those items. If you list say, the Fuchs "and more", 99% of people wont click to look at the rest and would never even know it was for sale, if they werent interested in the rims. It seems like an OK practice to me, IF you limit your daily listings to 2 or 3. Otherwise, I agree that listing 17 adds for bay parts in a row sucks. Just my 2cents!

how 'bout people can post more than however many ads if they pay some kind of premium and their ads are identified by seller - maybe a seller number next to where you put "new" by the ad descriptions. each seller's ad descriptions could all be linked to open the same big ad/page that still lets them list pics, descriptions & terms separately for each item and with one section of seller info. i don't know poop about web page coding, but it would be nice having each item made so the corresponding ad description would tab-to that section of the seller's page when clicked. i think that would be satisfying to everyone. even apply it to repeat sellers, not just the buncha ads at once sellers and have a rating/feedback system for their seller number? let the seller's $ premium buy them access to a buyer rating/feedback system (by buyer e-mail/alias?). i'm just thinkin' out loud...

Everett (and all), I wasn't talking about necessarily running the ad all over the place when i said "repeating". I meant, like when someone may change 1 letter in an ad so it gets sent back to the top of the list. For example, there are a few people who try to sell the same damn vehicle over and over and over again. Nothing really changes, not even the price! Just a slight rewording, it gets to the top of the page, and if you look at the counters, you can tell that is exactly what they are doing. Like the one bus that has over 16K hits?
