I just completed a Samba Shirt inventory count and we have about 100 Large and X-Large but only 3 XX-Large.
If you want one of these first generation Samba Shirts, order soon, because when they're gone, they're gone.

| I wore mine at Litchfield and advertised the site to at least one other attendee. Wore my Samba name on a label on the front and that's how I met up with some of the Samba notables. |

That's cool, thanks.
Everett always wants to wear his to shows and I have to say "don't be THAT guy". But I guess it helps people find him - he should write EVERETT with a black Sharpie pen across the front of it too.
It surprises me how many people see our Samba stickers at shows and say "what's that?" Maybe everybody hasn't heard of the site. LOL |

| Get his customized as a present with his name spray painted on. I guess I must have looked a little dorky with the tee shirt and the label but one of the nice things about being my age is I don't care what other people think of me because I don't have to go home with them. Of course I should have been thinking that way when I was 15 but I've always been a slow learner when it comes to life. |

I've been seeing this orange Squareback tooling around town, and the other day it was parked on my mail route. I went to the door to find out who it belonged to, it was a friend of the kid that lived there. I askedif he knew about "TheSamba", he didn't, so I steered him in the right direction!!
I'll talk about this site to anyone that will listen!
I love this place!
Thanks Everett and Jen!

I wore mine at OCTO, nobody cared, nobody asked, nobody even said "Hi". I was sure someone else would be wearing theirs. Guess I'm the only Geek around. I never saw Everett, no matter what Jen says, I don't think he exists.... :)
Next time I'm at a show, WEARING MY THE SAMBA SHIRT, someone PLEASE ask me who I am. Give a guy a thrill will ya? My wife thinks I'm the only wierdo who is addicted to this site, it would help prove my case if someone else acknowledged their addiction by talking to me.
Cheers,

PS: Jen, I emailed Ev about an idea for the "next generation" The Samba shirts, maybe with a picture of a Type 2 on it, remind him for me, if he exists. |

Hmm, I've just made a few T shirts with a yellow bug (like mine) and JustBuggin
below it. Guess that makes me a wierdo too. Can I join your club, g_turbo? :) |

"THE SEARCH FOR THE SHIRT", Part I
I searched out Everett at the OCTO, getting descriptions of him from various 'Arizona' types that knew him. They would say "He was just here" or "He's got a T-Shirt on" or "I think he's got a backpack and a camera". What they didn't tell me (and I think they were sparing my feelings) was that Everett is half my age and half the age of all those who were giving me clues as to his existence. If it wasn't for his 'Samba' T-shirt I would have thought he was just a college kid, documenting the show for a school paper. I don't want to sound jealous here, but Everett, you're too young to be our hero. I've been spending the better part of my adult life, glued to your website, anticipating the next bus for sale, the next NOS part in the classfieds, thinking that at the helm of this VW ship was a long gray-haired, bearded Zeus. When I shook your hand and thanked you for providing me and all the other VW addicts with your 'Samba Drug', I was overcome by your low-key humble demeanor. Nothing like the arrogant antics that any other VW god would have displayed. But when I walked away from you, the sounds of the heavenly trumpets (may have been NOS 6 volt barndoor horns) filled the air and I knew that I had been in the company of greatness. And then I realized that I had a chance (since I had my camera in my backpack) to photograph this icon for all to see on The Samba. I pulled the camera from my pack and turned around to capture you in pixels when I was blinded by a bright light (couldn't have been the sun as it wasn't out all weekend). When my sight returned, you were gone, a guy selling rusty bumpers dumped his Pacifico on the burning bush and I was back home staring into my computer screen, waiting for the next revelation on my favorite website... |

| I think Everett can assume whatever appearance he wants before us mere mortals but you over-stepped your bounds by presuming to capture his ethereal qualities on a bunch of pixels. If Everett is a god does that make Jen a goddess? |

I love my samba shirts,I where them every day. My family has been instructed to lay me to rest in my new black long sleeve split window bus row. I really do where them every day and when they get old I use them as shop rags.
I think I hold the record on shirt purchases from the samba as my closet is full of them.
I like the orange shirt over my long sleeve black for Oregon Beavers game day |

Also possibly the record for oldest post responded to, since the thread has sat for over 7 years without a post until now. :D |
