Quote: How long is the project planned for?
-Phybertek
Well, the project started on late July 2006 and the idea was to finish this summer but will see. Have to rebuilt the engine and upholstery, have to order few things and the finance is a big issue. Hard to tell. |

Well while waiting for painter( I will kill him eventually) I decided to do a steering wheel restoration. I red several articles and did it. It was badly cracked/dirty,crispy and original paint was half gone.I sanded entire wheel, filled with epoxy putty, sanded, primered with surfacer primer, wet sanded and that is it. You know that pic saying a thousand words so there it is.
Just have to paint it in its ( urethane) paint -Ivory, L567
paint  painter :x |

| It is POR-15 Epoxy Putty. As mentioned previously I reed various articles on the net and found that this product is perfect for the job.And I am no an expert, just read other people experience and than I put my hands on it and if it works that is great if not I try something else. |

Not too familiar with POR-15 epoxy, but it looks to have the consistency of plastic filler ala Bondo. If it does, it'll recrack soon enough.
I've always used PC-7 epoxy from www.eastwood.com The cconsistency is very thick, and will not fill in hairline cracks like the epoxy you used. Rather, you must take a file and/or cutting tool & create larger valley's & gaps then fill with the epoxy. It hardens like a rock & you must sand to shape it. |

I bought it from amazon.com it is 21 USD. Here are were you can reed all that You need to know. Putty is water based an you can shape it with your fingers. I didn’t drill the cracks but easily fill it with needle (only the large gaps) , sanded, fill it, sanded etc.

Actually a little. I have opened the posts for semaphores and got ones.
And I am just not sure will they fit since they are apparently for split convertible??? |

| Those are Saab semaphores, if it was split cab semaphores the backplate would be bent and have a hook the same a splitsedan. People often take this for vw semaphores, and I can see whay because it looks like the arm from a split cab and plate from post 55 cab. |

batwing....looks good.
Question for veskovici;
You said you opened up the posts!!?? Does this mean my 57’ US model can sport semaphores? I would like to read more about this procedure.
Thank you. |

all models had semaphores until 55 which us models started in 56 w/out them . euro's had them until I beleive until 62 or 63 .
If you want them then you will have to graft them in :P |

My oval is 1954 and it had semaphores only previous owner welded posts and of course removed semis. so I just opened welded openings. :D
And I think that 1957 was the last year to have semaphores. |

Yes this is because one wing is modified to earlier smaller bumper slot, anyway this will not affect bumper brackets , thanks |
