I've gone picture crazy thanks to my buddy curt sending me this stuff.
Here are both of our sandrails and note that you don't see any frame horns under the engine.
Curt on the left never had them with his aftermarket torsion housing and I cut mine off years ago to save weight.
Curts running the desert track tires on 12inch rims with standard offset and I am running 1300 plus on 13.5 beadlock rims with full camber. When I put my desert tracks on 10 inch wheels it's to much camber. Would be great to have the adjustable center section. May have to check that out one of these years.
We both run a 3 bolt sedan nose cone with solid mount. I hold mine in place using two nyloc nuts put on backwards so the rounded end goes inside the mount bracket slightly. This allows slight movement without being sloppy. The engine and tranny are held in place by your basic aluminim hang plate used on most mid engine buggy's. We just flip it around and put four taps to the top of the hang plate to the rail frame and the bottom to little bitty ends attach to the top two engine to tranny bolts which of course have to be longer. I use a 7/16 bolt and thread the plate then capture it with a flange nut.
Yes from time to time we crack nose cones and always keep a spare in camp. I have a spare hange plate but never needed it. I'll try not to jinx ether one of use by saying it hasn't happened in a few years. You got to really drive off something stupid at high speed or have a really, really fat girl real mad at you when you leave her at the bottom of a big hill you can't haul her back up. Then when she gets to the top you hit the whoops at high speed to pitch her out before you get back to camp and the guys see you.......
Oh bye the bye this is a better shot of my full camber swing set up. Running the KYB gas adjust bus shocks.
I'm thinking I might swap axles and turn them upside down but haven't figured out what the shock mounts will hit. Makes a great trailer tie down place the way it is. |
