| Okay, here's the skinny- I took my 87 cabriolet out for a spin this morning, came home, and decided (for the first time in two years) to wash it. After, I decide to move it off of the front lawn- i get in, turn the key, and nothin'! idiot lights come on, hokey "door's ajar' buzzer works, lights work, voltmeter reads 13 volts, but no starter action. not even a click. I pop the hood, and the starter and solenoid look dry and clean (i was thinking i had drowned something). Is it possible this poor car is simply in a state of shock? when it comes to water cooled, i am a novice, so if anyone has any advice, pipe up! |

| Try replacing the electrical part of the ignition switch. These bastids fail in all sorts of cool ways without warning. If you own a water cooled VW made before 1993, you should keep a spare in the glovebox. I'm serious! |

| Befor you replace anything try jumping the starter and see if it works |
