| That is right I am the seller and he is the buyer he bought it from me. Why did he buy it? It is a different way of VW life here on the east coast we restore cars you guys on the west coast may not even part out, so is the mirror worth $25 to someone on the west coast who may have plenty to choose from maybe not, here on the east coast where you may run into a early square one in a lifetime, that mirror may hold a little more value and someone may go to the extent to get it blasted and ree-chromed and a new piece of glass. Now I am not trying to win a battle just making a point, if you are unsatisfied with something lets resolve it. I have a huge inventory of type 3 parts let’s make it right with a different part or I can give your money back. |

Now there's some stellar logic.
That mirror is nowhere near "pretty good shape."
Shame on you. [-X |

Matt... Not only are you a self-misrepresenting scam artist and a total dodge on the VW scene, but you are a lier as well. There is no f**king chance that that mirror is in "pretty good shape," I dont care where you live. I bought the part from you because I talked to you on the phone personally as well as emails, etc., and you assured me it was cool. You were just trying to bang $35 outa someone.
This whole deal was shit. Lets add this up, shall we?; $25 for the part, $10 for shipping (real cost $4.07), it took OVER a month to get here, and the part is complete shit. Worthless. And from what others have said, this is typical of how you do buisiness.
You said "I have decided to not continue on selling any more of my type 3 parts due to either a lack of time and patience." You should be honest and just say its because you ae tired of having to clean out your inbox of angry emails and having to tell the people around you that you are an online scam artist. You are an embarrassment and a scab to our 'community' Matt. Good thing folks like you are few and far between and get weeded out of the pool before too much damage is done. And yeah I want my money back. You got the paypal addy.... |

| Here is Jimmy the stereotypical asshole, Hey Jimmy if you don't remember when I spoke with you on the phone the first time I said that I had a mirror that I just got off a 63 square. At that time I did not have a camera to get you a picture. I then had told you to just come and pick it up when you visited Buffalo. You did not want to wait! I will be the first to admit I take way to long to get things shipped out, I don't mean to but it just happens. After you rec. the mirror all you needed to do was to call me or email me and say hey Matt I rec. this so call ed mirror today and I think it would look better up your ass. At that time I would have most likly said I guess you did not like it, why don'yt you send it back and I will give you a refund. But instead you had to act like a typical girl and run your mouth instead of taking care of the problem. We will have plenty of time to so called weed this out I guess when you get to Buffalo. may "ADDY" is vaulteddesign@yahoo.com. By the way I checked my records and you only paid $25 shipped, so I guess that might make you feel a little better about your "New" mirror. |

Nope. Don't feel better at all. First of all, I did not say I couldn't wait. I did say that I would be in the Buffalo area soon and that it would be possible for me to stop by and pick it up. I have done that in many cities I have been to. Meet someone new from the VW scene, buy some stuff, talk shop, etc. Second of all, a full month after many attempts to reach you is WAY too long to wait for somthing to get put in the mail. Not withstanding the quality( or lack thereof) of the part you sent, it is your obligation as the seller of merchandise to get your goods to the buyer in a prudent amount of time. At least that is how reputable and responsible people conduct buisiness. Third of all, I did let you know that I did not like the "new mirror" right here in this very forum.... seeing as how you dodged every other attempt I made to contact you. This thread has responses that mirrored my experience from a few others. And there was a previous thread that a SAMBA administrator pointed out as well which depicted a similar scenario. Lastly- and this one makes me laugh in a humorless, exasperated sort of way- I don't quite understand your attributing my posting on this forum as "acting like a typical girl" and "running my mouth". What EXACTLY does that mean Matt? Are you a sexist piece of crap as well as a con-man? Somehow Matt, and I can only guess, I get the feeling you probably don't treat people very well. But it is only a guess....
Although you are correct on the $25 (splitting hairs here aren't we?) I hardly think that absolves you of your shady practices. As evidenced by others who have responded, I am secure in the knowledge that I am not the only one feeling slighted by you. It is apparent that this is how you do buisiness and I can only hope I am the last person you rip off here on theSamba. Good day to you sir. |

Why this guy still has ads here I don't understand..... I bought some T3 side marker bases for my '63 T34, payed through Paypal. Emailed him a couple weeks later to see if they had shipped - no response. Emailed a week later - still no response. Filed a complaint through Paypal - STILL no response. Escalated it to a claim through Paypal and was able to recover my money.
The way Matt has done business is called fraud. It's illegal - and he shouldn't be allowed to sell parts on the Samba. |

I recently had a bad experience with this seller. His current ebay handle is "poundingvage".
He had a teak steering wheel (ebay auction 220244283174, seen at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...4&rd=1).
Granted, it looked rough in the pictures but I wanted it more as guidance for matching the teak color to other interior parts over time. I bid low, and was a little surprised to win it. I checked the handle against this forum with no result.
Short version: Was invoiced immediately after the auction closed. I sent a paypal the day after the auction. I noticed that when I did the paypal, the receipt was not to "poundingvage" but to "Vaultedesign". Hmmm.
Then heard nothing. When a week went by, and he ignored my requests for either a tracking number or ETA on when it would ship. So I emailed again, and said that he had 24 hours to respond.
He did respond and said he would inculde "a few extras" for my trouble.
I received the package about a week later. Here's the points I made to him in an email:
1) Bad packing. The foam you wrapped it in moved around during shipping and the shrink wrap was no protection, since it wasn't in a box. There's a lot more paint scraped off the wheel now than in the auction pictures.
2) The horn bar and button pictured in the auction was not included.
3) When you removed the horn bar, you broke off the screws holding it. Yes, they are rusted in place but when you broke them off, you pretty much made the wheel useless.
4) You didn't ship UPS as indicated in the auction. While I realize you actually spent more in shipping than I paid, it also means it wasn't insured which I normally insist on. Had it shipped UPS, that is built in so I didn't bring it up.
So, he hasn't responded to my email asking him what he intends to do to correct the situation. I'm only out $30 total, so the money isn't really a big deal. But it's not cool to simply ignore problems when you expect to continue to do business in the community.
I haven't given him negative feedback on eBay yet. I want to give him every chance to respond before I do.
Oh, the "extras" he threw in was teak pinch welting. Nice of him, but useless for a Type 34. |

| I have decided to ban this seller due to some feedback sent privately to me as well as the fact that several people in this thread never had their complaints resolved. |

And that right there is why the samba.com is one of the safest places to buy and sell goods online. |

follow up: I gave the seller a month to respond to my issues with the wheel. When no response came, I finally gave him negative feedback on eBay yesterday.
Today, I get this:
"I cannot believe you had left me a negative feedback. First I did not list that the horn button was included and if that was what you were looking for why did you not ask for it? Also I thoaught I was waiting on you for a resolution to the problem because you mentioned that money was not the problem because you got it cheap. So how could you leave me a negative for something you never followed up with me on with what you thaught was fair. My hands are tied.
- poundingvage "
My response:
"I'm sorry it came to this. You never responded to my questions, you never responded to my comments on The Samba. I asked for a way to work this out on Jun 30 and you chose not to respond.
What choice did I have?
As for the horn button and ring, it was in the picture and it's part of the wheel. Why wouldn't I expect to get it? And why didn't you mention that the retaining screw were broken off?
Since it wasn't insured, I can't file a claim.
Tell me how you planned to fix this and I'll listen."
I'm genuinely surprised that he would be surprised to get negative feedback. It's clear to me now that the horn button and ring were in the picture to hide the broken mounting screw. I don't think I over-reacted, right? He had a month to fix things and didn't.
We'll see if he responds. Ebay is supposed to begin allowing you to edit feedback soon. If he makes it right, I will update this thread and add to any ebay response he makes. I realize this is pretty much academic at this point, since he has been banned as a seller, but I like to show both sides when possible. |

update: the seller sent me a message the day after i finally left negative feedback for him on eBay, saying he would refund my money or send the horn button. I have not responded and probably won't.
I see it this way: I bought in good faith, got a bad deal, gave the seller a month to make it right and he chose not to respond to my emails to him, so I gave negative feedback. Suddenly, he was able to respond right away and was upset and surprised I had done this. I'm pretty much tired of the whole thing.
So, things are pretty much done: I have the wheel, he has the money, and his rep is damaged by his own actions.
If anyone wants to look at my own feedback, they're welcome to. On eBay it's 63ghiaguy. |
