| I would like to thank the PO's for not modifying my bug. It was repainted to the original blue (minus the interior and a few small exterior parts), and upgraded to 12V. Seats are original, engine is original, as is everything else....I would say about 90% restored. I"m happy to have to do last 10% and keep it looking as stock as I can. |

I'd like to think Greg the moderator of norcalveedubs swap meet web site (silvertoungedevil) for selling this 1967 Beetle without disclosing the reason he had the shift rod out & replaced it without installing a shift bushing. The shift bushing retainer was completely worn through. Not a big deal if you're a welder, but I have a hunch thats why he sold the car.
Seen here.

I would like to thank my PO for restoring my car to 90% but not touching the engine compartment! Why is beyond me....maybe funds were lacking.
A complete new turn key 1600 DP engine in place, replaced the low profile tires with 165/15's repaired the leaking master cylinder and cylinder reservoir and she's ready to rock! The next thing to tackle is my bright light issues. I only have brights and I can only turn them on before I start the car! Once she's started or if you turn them off while she's running they won't come back on!
I miss the look of the slammed bug but it's a lot easier to get in and out of and I don't have to watch where I drive!

On my 65 standard 1200A which I bought in Aug of 68 from my local dealer. About a week after I bought my car a total maniac in a brand new 68 Beetle behind me finally pulls along side and says " That's my car!!" and "pull over". I did, and he told me about his European trip and picking up the car at Wolfsburg and why my car had towel rack bumpers instead of painted Euro blades and all the other things he had to change, and failed to change to get the car through U.S. customs He then ordered me to follow him home so he could give me the European tail lights, the Kilometer speedometer, the oil filler/road draft tube, and air cleaner. He said I was very lucky to have these saved parts because the officials at the port weren't going to let him have them. He then proceeded to demand that I change oil ever 1,500 miles, adjust the valves every 3,000 miles and so on. The car has been one of the best I've ever owned and will never sell.

Gasoline on a rag. Keep it wet for a few minutes, rub gently, soak more, rub, etc. |

| My favorite was after I bought the car we tried to start it. Ran horrible!! the P.O. told me because I bought it he'll clean out the tank and put in fresh gas. It smelled like Grandpa's wine so we knew it was just simply bad gas. I returned the next week to pick the car up. It ran like a scalded ape , but it was also running when I pick it up. anyway after cool down I tried to start it and no good actually, spun backwards!!! yep he didn't clean out the tank, OR add fresh gas. Nope just a whole bottle of rubbing alcohol. like I said ran like raped ape, but that twelve mile trip was all that little 1500 did on alcohol...good times. |

It wont harm the original paint just test it somewhere you wont see first. I used graffitti remover to get the emblem glue off of my brand new motorcycle and the paint is perfect and unharmed. Sticker adhesive remover works ok too but the graffitti remover did it quickly and cleanly. Hell many of us, myself included have used oven cleaner to remove old paint (im my case spray paint) off of original paint with no damage at all. |

| I know everyone is trying to be helpful, but c'mon, can we let the duct taped dash die already? Why not start up a thread over in the Body and Paint section since it's a painted dash. We have had a bunch of quotes and replies on this and the owner of this car has never responded back regarding its condition or use of all of the suggestions since the original on Feb 15th of 2010. Just my 2 cents... |
