I was wondering if you can post pictures of an original, or, at least, a restored, interior for 1967 Karmann Ghia. Sorry for asking this question twice. Thanks in advance.

So- Who can tell me if this is the original interior colours for Cardinal Red?

Sorry if its a stupid question but I couldn't see any cardinal red cars in the thread yet?

Cheers

Wow, this has been a very informative thread - thanks to all that have contributed and posted pictures.

My Sea Blue '64 has a custom interior in it from the prior owner. I'm looking to put something in it that more closely resembled what it might have had new from the factory. This has given me many ideas.

Thanks!

Anyone that can reccomend carpet sets resembling the OG interior at an affordable pricetag. What about the TMI-line, is it OK?

1969 Oriole Yellow Coupe (tbc)
Colour Code: L 11 K (64)
Upholstery - leatherette - 32 khaki brown 68
Seat options would have been Black leatherette, or Platinum cloth

Exterior repaint...similar to og colour

Falke wood fascia. I'm not 100% sure if that is the og carpet

First Thread! What is the proper fastener for installing '69 door panels. Shade tree, who had this Ghia used one inch deck screws to fasten panels! I can get plastic sheeting at hardware store...but where can one find edge beading or I've heard it called trim piping? Viva la Ghia!!!

Does anyone know who carries the original German square weave. Not the 6 x 7 loops per inch but the 8 x 9 loops per inch? Looking for the real McCoy! Thanks, Doug

So I decided to start ripping up my seat covers to see what was underneath. To my surprise, I found the OG seat covers in relatively good condition. This, at first, was a blessing but at the same time I found it to be completely HORRIFYING! Why?

BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT SOME MORON CHOSE THE REPLACEMENT UPHOLSTRY BY CHOICE AND NOT SHEER NECESSITY!!!!!!!

I thought it was interesting to see that the lower part of the seat covering (not the part you put your butt on) was made of the "black leatherette" material with a subtle lined pattern running up and down the seat bottom, which you can just make out in the picture.

I'd appreciate some pics on a '67 to give me ideas on my resto process. For starters I'd like to know if it should have high or low back seats. Og seats were no longer in it when I got it. It had aftermarket ones which were thrashed.

They should be lowbacks, but to add insult to injury, 67 seats are a one year seat with a cable interlock to the door. The seatback will not move forward unless the door is open.

Thanks Icy. Will keep the low back in mind. Meanwhile I got hold of a pair of '70s seats that I stripped. I'm assuming they would fit the rails on my '67? I haven't had a chance to even try slipping them in.

Can any one post a decent photo of the rear interior panels for a 58/59 coupe? I want to understand which trim bits I am missing?

Do some searching on this site to confirm, but I *think* the seat rail width changed in '68.

I want to react on this topic as I'm searching for years now correct 1955-1957 info for the restauration of my 1957 coupé.

My september 1957 KG (and yes it is still a 1955-57 model) is an original all black car with a grey and green interior in leatherette and coat. I like red interiors very much on black cars and I read somewhere that they were available for black cars but only in full leatherette as a kind of an option. I found a picture later on on the internet of an original black 55 with a red interior. Does anybody has a story about this?

Philip
That car is featured here:

My take:
The very early cars appeared to have their own interior combinations, before Karmann settled on their standard '56/57 style range' and the '58/59 style range'
So a red interior was not 'standard' for Black Ghias '56/57', but did appear very early on. Looks ace

Is that Philip S, btw?

This interior is it correct for a low light L87 (pearl white) of 1958 ?
