This is a wolfgang front tranny mount adapter for my Binz, It will not mount up to my bus nosecone I just got from sloan. The red circled areas show you the gap and where the adapter hits the nosecone preventing it from sitting right.
Should I grind the adapter to make it clear the spot? or grind the hump on the nosecone? or a combination of both?
Has anyone else had this problem?

| I personally would not want to grind down the nosecone. That adapter looks pretty easy to re-fabricate, a nosecone is not..... I'd keep that nosecone as strong as possible (and as thick) and not grinding anything off of it.. |

| I'd grind the adapter as long as you have enough wall thickness on the hole to keep it safe! |

| when you finish grinding the adapter, bolt the nose cone to it and bolt it into the bus. you are going to have to grind the top front part of the nose cone to get it in. best to do that when it isnt attached to the tranny. |

I know the top rib will need to be ground some, I just didnt think I should grind that adapter down to close to the mounting hole.
Yes it is a solid front mount.
I guess I will grind the adapter and install the tranny and have it back on 4 wheels tomorrow.
Shit doald, ya aint got to tell me about time. I know I know. Still have to bolt up the straight axle in my sons PaddyWagen too. Travis did his sunday in my driveway. |

| i took a little bit off of the nosecone with a 36 grit roloc and ground the edge of the adapter as well when i used that on my truck. i was pissed that i paid 30 some bucks for a piece of plate steel that wasn't even cut right. |

| What if I put a spacer or rubber block in between to take up the gap? would that move the trans too far back for the hockey stick to meet the shift coupler? Or too far back to mount? |

just grind the adapter a little till it clears or would you have to grind too much? |

| Measure the thickness of the stock mount and compare to the adapter. If the thickness is the same, then grind away on the adapter. If the adapter is thinner, then add some rubber from a mount. |

| Yeah, im lovin' the straight axle on my bus. I think it's the best thing anyone's ever thought of. Mike, I'll have you're springplates done tomorrow. Everything's tacked but i ran out of time at work so I'll weld them out tomorrow. I'll be over Saturday to drop them off. |

I got the adapter from wolfgang. I dont know if it is just a bad one or if they all need some clearencing?
I think I will have to grind it almost over to the bolt hole to get it to fit, That scares the shit out of me cuz I will worry about it breaking under a load.
I was just looking at some pics in the gallery from bigbulli, had the same problem and it looks like he ground the nosecone down for it to fit?
I will grind it today and hope for the best. |

You should let Wolfgang know the "situation" you are having with it. As mentioned, there might be different castings of nose cones and yours may be one that they did not use as a template. Not saying that you didn't get the wrong item but if they don't know they have a "problem", they can't fix it!
I wonder how your ride be with a solid tranny mount!?! I had a lot of noise and vibration by just using them red poly mounts, which went away once I replaced them with rubber mounts! :? |

mike, dont worry, this is my adaptor from my 53 which was running a 2017cc. i never had any issues. i have since changed to using a rubber mount (as shown in Mynameismuds photo)as i didnt like the solid mount rumble.
with a truck, yours should be considerably quieter but you may feel the rumble a bit in your shifter.
