| Just got a '72 super with a fuel guage stuck on E. Wanted to check sending unit, however, still waiting for my repair manual to arrive. How do you remove the sending unit from the tank? Does it unscrew, pop off, or otherwise? |

71 and later super senders "twist lock" into the tank where as others screw into the top of the tank with 5 screws.
It is best / easiset IMO if you drain and pull the tank on the super to get at the sender... |

| I changed out the fuel sender in my '71 Super Conv without removing the tank. Remove the cover in the trunk to access it. |

I should have paid more attention to the year  ... my statement above is for 73 and later supers... your right it is not partially obstructed on 71 72 supers like the 73 and later.... |

a related question... in the process of removing my fuel sender on a 1971 Super, in an act of stupidity, I levered off the sending unit.
When I went to put the new sending unit in, obviously it wouldn't snug up... began driving it and, of course, a fuel leak around the sending unit.
Question, how do I repair the damage? I tried to bend the tabs down and straighten them up, but to no avail. is there a fix for this or do I just get a new tank?
Thanks!
