Wow, I seriously lost some IQ points reading that.

BTW, I put "64 Bug" in the title - he didn't have anything to describe what it was...

Could it be a language barrier issue? Check out the last name.

"steve gui"

I looked at some of his older ads and they are all similar so yes, that is very possible.

If that is the case, I retract my comments as I am sure he did a better job that what I could do in his native language, Google Translate notwithstanding.

dammit, we were having so much fun until the principal showed up and put a stop to the taunting!

Actually, im usually the class clown, and I still think the add is jacked up.
I was just trying to give the person the benefit of the doubt.

haha! actually the "principal" comment was aimed at everett as he's had me in his office for a scolding more than once recently! :D

Doesn't seem too bad to me I would say the same if it still had the motor in it running or not.

I agree with you. and to find a "nicer running bug" in that age range around there, the fractions and prices definitely go the other way..

Compare the prices on these two projects: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1282689

Well that one the back wasn't cut that easily adds 3k to the asking price. 4k  ridiculous.

Soooo, I hate to step on anyones payday here, but this guy is selling (normally) one side for nearly what Gerson sells both sides for direct; unless prices went up since I bought mine.

"Special Introductory Samba price of $359 per side - normally $399"

Not terribly high, but still high for an engineless car, in my opinion.

IMO without the engine is a small bonus. He's done the work of taking out the 40hp engine and thrown it away for you.

Shipping aside, this ad is asking almost double per channel. At that mark up if it were to include free shipping, it would still be way more expensive than the same two channels plus shipping direct from Gerson. And it's not like Gerson needs a special handshake to buy his products; I called him up after he posted prices in the heater channel thread and it was a done deal.

So either Gerson's prices went up and I got a killer deal (and in that case I'll shutup), or this ad is just marking them up 100% and preying on the less informed.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the 40 horse motor... that was what I had in my '68 in its last form before I sold it. Made for a great mileage miser on the highway. A little pokey, but rock-solid reliable and awesome mileage!

This guy is pretty straight-forward from what I have seen and I have met him in person... I would ask him straight out about it if you are curious.

Not a shot at you but the same goes for tons of the whines on the site. :)

Let me get this straight, he won't answer any questions about the car, will only deal with people who show up with an appointment with cash in hand, but they have no idea how much cash they need in that hand. This is how he's done it since he was 12. Reads like he might still be 12...
