It's neither ... look @ those cheap replacement bumpers. :P
I'd say it's legit, it probably photographs better than it really is, but still a good buy. We need a "good deal" sticky. Actually, :-k no we definitely don't. |

 I am shocked at the audacity of the seller for asking such a high price for that! At least they posted "honest" pics showing that the underside of the car isn't there. I don't even know if I would offer $4K. That's going to require a LOT of welding and fabrication. |

I paid $5K for my '60 Kab, but despite needing a pan under the battery area, and the fact that it didnt run when I bought it, it's solid as a brick sh!+ house, complete and original. The doors dont bind at all and it has all the original parts - including the rubber drain lines for the rain tray. (Okay, the front peanuts are missing in lieu of the larger '64 - '67 style, but big deal!) It even has the original '60-'61 only horn ring with no pits  ! I got it running with relatively little effort so I think I paid a very fair price. Granted, it needs all new brake system, but so what.... I'd rather do that any day than deal with rotted structural components any day! These guys need to put down the bong and step away  |

Funny, the current owner/seller tried to accuse me of being dishonest when we traded cars a few months back. Yet HE has failed to mention this car needs,
BOTH heater channels
front cross panel
Both rear cross members
luggage shelf (maybe partial but most likely complete)
rear shock tower area (both sides)
rear quarter panel sections (both sides)
BOTH rear wheel well repair sections, etc, etc.
Sure its a pretty shiny car, but don't let that fool you. It has potential but it has issues.
(I'm sure by the time I get up in the morning he will have sent me some more PM's trying to insult me again  ) |

I'm confused... Is the black ragtop the car you traded your car for? I looked at the ad and it says "Its not without its flaws, some rust, email me for more info..."
Are you saying you inquired, asked about the rust, asked for documenting pics and the seller was deliberately dishonest in his verbal and pictorial representations?. You need to clarify....
Also, if you had a bad experience with a Samba seller, you need to post that in the Feedback Forum  |

The body may have had some work at sometime, but the heater channels look decent, at least at the juncture of the channel and the uprights leading up to the hinge-it looks like it's solid. Yeah, the pan is rotten for sure, but that's to be expected with any VW.. That's life. |

Pans are no big deal. However, the structural reinforcement under the heater channels are destroyed. (I can't seem to get a larger photo of this but you can easily see that the steel reinforcement is completely rotted out.)
This is what it should look like...

Here's what I hate. People who say they are interested in what you're selling and say they'll "take it" then don't come through. Not even a courtesy email to say," ...sorry, shipping is too much."
I've had this happen with 4 of my ads including my design ad. The guy butters me up and says he has a print shop in Philly and he would like to talk about doing business, I keep a dialog going with this guy all night last Friday from my Blackberry and he seemed cool. Then I email him telling him to call my cell anytime the next week to go over details and nothing.
Then another guy emails saying he'll take the chromies I have for sale. Not, "hey how much for shipping?", but,"I'll take them." I email the cost of shipping and he vanished. Same thing with the parcel tray and the NOS bus rim. Hell, I don't even charge for Paypal and these guys still won't follow through. What's going on?
I know I'm whining and this crap happens, but damn, 4 in a row? Is my email not working or what?
I just had to vent. :2gunfire: |

I hear that too man. I also hate the "still have these?" email, or the "interested. call me." email. If it's listed, it should still be available. If you've taken all the trouble to email, what can be said over the phone that can't be said in the original email? I'll describe everything the Nth degree with pictures and I'll still get emails and questions about stuff that is already documented in an ad. |

If you've had the same experience as me, then your comment would be "I hate when someone has something advertised, I go to pay them, only to find out they sold it a month ago."
I send "do you still have it" emails just for that reason. I usually get a cheerful reply in the affirmative and we do quick business. On occasion, I get a reply that says it was just sold. If the seller cannot understand the logic behind an inquiry email, gets an attitude and doesnt respond, then I guess it's his loss... Dont expect that every advertiser is as responsible and efficient as you  |

| Yeah, I've definitely experience it from that end too. But for the most part, I think it should be assumed that if an advertisement is up that it's still for sale - and if it's not, the seller shouldn't get an attitude - or at the very least respond to the person and let 'em know it's gone. Simple courtesy. |
