Usually when someone overprices a car for sale he or she doesn't sell it for a long time, if ever. But every now and then, that sucker is bought by someone! I guess there is no price but what someone is willing to pay.
And speaking of Camaros, I've seen people pay quite a bit for a rusty, bondo plastered and bent up Camaro. After spending 6 grand on something this bad, what are you gonna have in it by the time you're done? At least with a VW you can unbolt some of that stuff and throw it away (or sell it to someone more desperate). With a Camaro you are stuck with trying to get all of that right. I wouldn't do it.
Another thing I like (really like) about VWs is the large selection of parts. Look at the way you can put back on the molding and emblems. You can go cheap, go original or use stainless steel/custom. Custom seats that just bolt in ...or white window seals? I love it! :D |

| Before my 62 Ragtop I owned a 66 Mustang and I can tell you first hand that VW parts are a third the price of a mustang. After I bought by bug I called a parts store for a new fuel pump, when they told me the price (like 20 bucks) I told the guy, "wow thats cheap, are you sure?" The guy told me "it's a bug right!!!!" Thats when I knew I would love fixing up my bug. |

What gets me are not only the outrageous prices some sellers try to charge, but the attitude you get when communicating with them. You can tell they are just rude kids.
"It's like buy it now, man or shut the F--- up! "
Or you tell the buyer you want to buy an item they have up for sale, they say OK and then you never hear from them again! |

More dreaming.......
You don't always get out of a car what you put into it. Remember, Custom modifications are something YOU may like, but not everyone likes the same thing, especially at this price!
How lo can you go? (Cue up Mexican Limbo Music)

| I fell for one lately - 67 Bug, everything there and all original parts for $500.00! I talked with the guy, he emailed pics and it looked like a great deal. I headed to the bank then drove 2 hours to find a stripped body with no motor, tranny, fenders or glass. When I asked about the pics he explained that's what it looked like 2 years ago - and we wonder why people go postal  |

Guidelines for placing an advertisement:
1. Show a recent photo of the car for sale, not one taken 10 years ago at an
auto show.
2. Don't make the buyer have to do mental arithmetic about what the bottom
line is: ($6,000 - repairs YOU will make). Set a price and make it
negotiable.
3. The language and spelling in this advert is so mangled, after reading the
advert I was confused as to what the seller was really trying to say!
I don't mean to be mean spirited, but a lot of people don't make top dollar on their cars simply because they didn't think out the advertisement before placing it. |

Got another one that really grinds my gears...
Guy is selling some parts, and it says $350 obo. So I call him up and say that I am willing to offer $315. He says, I want $350 for it. I kindly tell him okay, but if he can't find a buyer at that price I am offering $315. He says absolutely not, and throws in a couple more jerky remarks.
So what's the deal with this?? If your ad says obo, I don't think you should be offended when people make you offers. On the flipside, when you're clearly giving out a steal of a deal, make no mention of offers (or it even says firm) and you STILL have people trying to lowball, that's equally as retarded/frustrating. |

| It helps to not keep reciepts. That way, your wife doesn't know and when and if you sell it, it won't make you sick. |
