Is it too much to ask for people to take their ads down after they sell an item??? I'm so sick of finding exactly what I need, for a good price, only to hear "sorry, it's sold"!!!

That's just plain LAZY

Beware of this thermostat kit:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1042477

The thermostat is junk.

Then there's this "complete" thermostat kit that's missing all the clips to hold things together, and more importantly, it's missing the return spring!

If that wasn't enough, the flaps assemblies he has are both LEFT side flaps. They won't work on the right side.
WHAT CRAP!!!

This is just wrong...

$1600 for NOS 45mm Dells my ass...lol.

I could see $700 or $800 as reasonable, but we're talking like four times their original price when new in the '80s or early '90s. Even brand new IDA's don't go for that. You'd be well on your way to a set of 51.5mm Webers at that price.

it's a little high, but comparing them to what they cost back then, or to a set of carbureters that are still being produced is a moot point... if you want NOS Dellortos, the price of admission isn't cheap, afterall, they don't make em anymore...

The last set of NOS 48 DRLAs I saw trade hands was for $1200.

Wheel / Tire rant. Why are they all lumped together in one classified category? There should be several sub-categories, so we don't have to wade through pages of crap that doesn't fit:

1. early wheels (wide 5)
2. late wheels (4x130)
3. other wheels (porsche, chevy, etc)
4. tires

Or if that's too much trouble, there should be a bolt pattern drop-down menu, both in the ad creation form, and in the search form, so one could do a search based on bolt pattern.

I'm with you, Lupy, I once put in my request for a green car only forum, because I like looking at green cars the best...

danfromsyr Wed Nov 17, 2010 2:31 pm

not that it's really any comparison but VWVORTEX does have a sperated wheel/tire forum for the classifieds
http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisplay.php?5088-Wheels-and-Tires-Classifieds
*and our 5x205 & 4x130 must get lumped into the "other Wheel" forum :x

but that rant should go into the THESAMBA SITE Forum

LOL at thinking anyone would fill it out correctly.

You'd be in here bitching after 1 day saying people picked the wrong pattern.

You would not believe how many ads I move around that are basic mistakes, like parts in the car category, cars in the parts category, trades everywhere instead of in Trades, Ghia parts in Bus, and so on. Luckily a lot of people report ads because I can't police it all. (hint, hint).

Sad as it is, I think you're right about this. Speeling and Reeding are not strong points of most Supper Bettle owners.

Fixed it for you.

I remember once sending a link to a topic on the big Porsche board to a buddy. He replied with his astonishment that "those guys are literate!"
