I could maybe, MAYBE see a $10K plus price tag if it were a '79 vert with virtually no miles, stored in a climate controlled garage, yada yada yada, but all I see is a run of the mill mid'70s Super vert with a budget interior package. Front bumper doesn't even have the impact strip. Lol. |

Ibought these for my bug but decided to go with fuel injection instead. IDF 40 webbers made in Itay very clean.
never mind that he can't spell the word "weber" or "italy", the ad description says made in italy, but the photos show "made in spain"
i emailed the seller and asked for clarification, which one is it? i just received his response:
"Spain is in the country of italy"

that doesn't seem off the mark to me, for a properly restored car like this. most of the "restorations" you see for sale are a $159 maaco paint job over bondo over rust with a lot of missing parts. $15k is fair for a museum quality restoration, which is what this appears to be. |

i'm selling a super beetle speedometer. an interested buyer emails me and asks which speedometer cable he should buy for his custom sand rail. i tell him the various cable part numbers are all functionally the same, the only difference between them is the length. i suggested he buy the longest one, and gave him a link to a vendor who sells them.
he writes back to me today and says this:
Quote: I can see three different lengths for sale, 1225 mm, 1266 mm, and 1390 mm. I'm not very good with metric and mm, can you tell me which of these is longest?
you've got to be shitting me. |

Museum quality? I tend to have trouble swallowing the fact that these cars came with 009's, cheap chrome air cleaners, alternators, fat boys, trigger shiffters, etc, etc, etc, etc.....from the factory. That's a decent resto-mod....nothing more. MAYBE worth 7-8K to the right person. A museum artifact? Sure..... an Empi museum, maybe.
EDIT- Forgot the cheap degreed crank pulley. |

| So I bought a front disc conversion for my 74 super from a source I won't mention coughmidamericamotorworkscough and while installing the inner bearing race the whole rotor cracks. I call them and I am told this is an " installation error" and he says he would be happy to sell me a new rotor. I bet you would asshole! Apparently putting s race in with a press is the wrong way to do it. Anyone ever do this before?? I'm fuming over here for 2 days now! |
