Just as amusing as the upside down LHS mirror fitted to the RHS door.

I see prices on here listed for Supers and Standard that are clearly junk. Rusted, not running or with major issues.... price the (blue) sky is the limit. Yet I see page after page of ones that are un-sold after months.

Locally I have seen one that should be listed here for $10,000 according the Samba Classified ads. This one runs and drives almost rust free, needs carb adjusted because of a local farm mechanic rebuilt... listed for $2,000 or best offer? It has some appearance issues and will need repaint. Not sure I want a Standard or another project other wise I'd be picking it up today. Another one listed locally a standard Auto Stick at $2,000 or offer?

So do these people ever sell the junk listed here on Samba? Or are they clueless the market has dropped?

According to the seller this is the:

"The Finest 73 Ever super beatle"

The beatle was a rare production run of what we call the beetle?

And please, can anyone tell me what the hell a "Bu Freak" is????

And why on earth is it 15000????

Car would look far better if the guy hadn't effed up the head lights/turn signals/etc up front... it looks like a fucking disaster on the nose. Even without those features, no way is it worth $15K.

I learned my lesson last year when I rebuilt / restored a classic Cushman scooter. I had some time on my hands after major surgery and thought, gee these old Cushmans like I used to drive as a kid are worth major bucks! Saw the ads for 7, 8 and 10,000 dollar plus scooters.

So I restored one. Thousands in new parts, hundreds of hours of labor. Looked darn nice.... but ads ran, no calls no emails. Sold 6 month later for almost $2,000 loss, not counting my labor. Guess what, the ads for the 7,8 and 10,000 dollar plus scooters are still up today, over a year later. Lesson learned. Asking or listing price is not selling today. Dream on boys!!!

I know this isn't about a car for sale but isn't this the CREEPIEST ad ever for auto shipping? The price, the picture, everything.

no gripes about the beetle as far as price wise. you can buy a coil-over lowering set up for 350 bucks, for my 03 cavalier a coil-over kit is 1,000. plus parts are easyer to get then it is to get parts for my 68 Fairlane. Course im a total newbie to the Beetle

living where i do i cant get new spares so i have to scour the uk and american sites and places like cip1 are much cheaper. the uk people all complain about quality and price whereas i hear better things about CİP1 etc

Talking of which can anyone help me find parts numbers so i can do a shipping order from CİP!---i havent got a paper copy of the catalogue. i am looking for a complete set of external rubbers for a 1973/74 superbug --black beading between wings and body)-maybe you can help me with terminology---we call them wings(the wheel covering) do you call them 'fenders'--thats a term we use for bumpers!--any help appreciated.

İ have lived all my life believing fenders were 'bumpers!

HEY!!, these things are rare!!!!

You tried to find a 71-72 super hood that isn't rusted out lately?
It's the one model hood that isn't sold new.

Cal look rubbers are the ones without chrome strips.

downlow68 Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:44 am

Who's talking about 71-72 hoods? The ad is for a 70 model.

$100? That's nothing. When I hit a deer a few years back in my former '68, a wrecking yard over in the next town over was going to charge my insurance company $400 for a used hood. I wound up buying one from a buddy for $40 (it wasn't perfect, but good enough for what my car was, a daily driver).

Even the blind can see it's a flat screen Super Beetle hood.
Just because the ad says it's a 70 hood doesn't mean it it is.
If I take an 60s decklid and call it an 50s oval one would you believe me?
