Anyone have a set they want to sell?
There's quite a few for sale in the classifieds.
Really? I can never find them I check offroad parts every day..
Are there in a differnt place?
They're not just an off road part.

| You'll be lucky to hit 55 with stock gearing. You will need the early bus trans too, unless you are going to flip the ring and pinion, because the reduction boxes spin in reverse direction then what comes out of the trans. |

| I have a 1915 with a bus RGB set-up, running 33" tires in my rail. I have had it to 85 mph with no problems(other than the front end feels too light to try to go any faster). |

| Do you have the big nut or small nut? I've got the 63 only small nut with 30's and a 1600 and it screams at 55. The big nut is supposed to be gear better for highway. |

bomberbaja wrote: i think I read somewhere that you have to use bus brakes w/ reduction boxes. is that true?
1/2 true.
The large nut boxes will only allow large nut brakes to be bolted to them.
But small nut boxes will allow the use of type 3 brakes to be used with them.
Since the bus brakes are designed for use with a heavier vehicle, it is a gain to use them on a baja with larger tires to help stop better. Other than more unsprung weight, they are a plus to run. |

Okay I'm doing the whole redux swap on my Baja and I read this thread all the time and I'm a little confused I see people running the shocks to the stock shock towers? How do that work out?
I'm planning on mounting my shocks to the cage does anyone have pics of their shock mounts on the redux boxes and on the cage? |

Look at the 4th post on this thread for an idea for a different lower shock mount. Other pictures in this thread show various lower mount positions, even some adapters were set up to mount the shock on top of the RGB.
I plan on running shocks in the stock location, but I will not be jumping my baja, so a stock style shock will suit my driving style. |

| I see a lot of talk concerning the swing axle conversion. I run an irs in my class 11 clone and would like some info on the subject. |

That went over my head. I am not understanding your question.
What are you asking for, info on how to go from IRS to Swing, or Swing to IRS? |

| I have irs in my bug now. can I use the reduction boxes with this to gain some ground clearance?? I don't drive this thing on the highway just back and forth to work and hopefully get some time on the trails |

To use the RGB's, you have to completly do away with the IRS transaxle and trailing arms, then install a complete RGB swingsaxle.
If you have IRS in your car now, you are better off getting longer trailing arms and longer axle shafts to gain more clearance. |

RGB = Reduction Gear Box
OG = Original "I buffed off the re-spray down to the OG paint" (re-spray = second coat of paint) |

All of us gotta start somewhere on the learning curve. At least I did not make fun of you in the process.
A re-index and cut and turn can gain a nice few inches of clearance and allow for a larger diameter tire, which garners more clearance. A nice first step on building your first baja. Watch the adds and swap meets (if you can go to them) the thing spindles go cheap sometimes, I bought mine last fall for $ 100.00 complete.
I also noticed in your profile you are a garbage man, me too. |

yes Joe I am a city employee and thankfull to be one nowadays. Right now I'm on med hold from my deployment to Iraq. As for the bug, I have 30 9.50 15's in the rear and 235 75 15's up front. while nice I'd still like it a little higher, not as high as neanders but still up there so my fronts don't rub.
On a side note, you find anything good/cool while out on route?? I got a chainsaw and some hedge clippers along with some sockets. It's true what they say "one man's trash is another's treasure" |
