Not much help as I have no idea what these wheels are. They bolted right on my wife's surf van and came from the local VW mechanic. 16 inch, it really goes down the road fast.

Pretty sure the offset is high, anyone familiar? Good price:

That price is a little steep.......

Steep for a set of 4?

Beantsingh Sun Feb 12, 2012 10:35 pm

So I have decided to upgrade to the 15'' or 16'' wheel and tire set from Van Cafe or Gowesty (probably Van Cafe with Nokians since they are cheaper).

I have searched the forum a bunch and cannot find a clear answer as to whether the 16'' wheel and tire combo will fit onto my 85' stock Wolfsburg Westfalia without rubbing. Go Westy's website says that the 16's are fine, but Van Cafe says there is a possibility they will rub without springs? I do not want to get stuck making other upgrades for the wheels to fit.

I am buying the wheel and tire package ready to bolt on because I am a newbie and do not want to play any guessing games. Will the 16's bolt right on and not rub? If there is a chance that they will rub, I would probably prefer the 15's but want to go bigger if possible. And if I go with 16's will the stock brakes be fine?

Bigger is better, right?

Thank you in advance!

Brian

I guess with free shipping.......Here's a set near me. I'd be happy to get em and ship em to ya. Could probably get 'em for half what he's asking.

Wow, thanks very much for the offer. I'm still trying to figure out what they would take to bolt up to my van.

I have a set of those on my '84. You need to drill out the bolt holes to 14mm (9/16"), add longer studs in the back and get some rather specific longer lug bolts for the front. After that they're okay. ;)

And since those are ET49, I would suggest a set of 15mm spacers.

Good catch Chris - the ET on mine is in the thirties... ;)

Hi,

I already posted my wheel set-up over a year ago.

I need help with a new suspension set-up and am having trouble finding the right thread.

Could somebody please point me in the right direction for a 1987 wolfsburg weekender (currently with stock suspension--as far as I know) that I would like to lower to gain better handling and decrease the gap above my 235/45ZR17 tire and rim set up. I have 5, maybe 8mm spacers up front, and 25mm spacers in back with OZ 17x8 ET35 all around.

Thanks.

Tires are 225/45R18 (front) and 235/45R18 (rear). Adapters are 28mm thick (front) and 46mm thick (rear). Sliding door hinge will have to be extended.

Chirs,

I am curious about how the H&R were "modified"? I am looking to lower my 1987 Wolfsburg, currently with Carat springs, but I am afraid that the H&R Sport Springs, the CIP1, and the Weitecs won't lower it as much as I want. Erik D. recommended a Cup Kit, but I can't really get those here too easily.

Any insight?

Thanks

I believe vwnut mentioned a similar wheel earlier in this thread, but any comments regarding fit and quality on these?

Even after recognizing the length of this thread when I first started researching, I can't believe how much time I'm spending trying to find wheels :o

Those are similar to my OZ Saturn rims, in both offset and look. I have 17s.

Anyway, mine fit at the rear with no problems. I has to put 8mm spacers up front to clear the control arm. You can see my wheels on my van on page 50 or so of this thread. All the fitment info should be there.

I know that you aren't suppose to do the wheels at the beginning of a project but I just got such a great deal! 18x8 ET35 VW Interlagos replicas. Right now it has the front 7mm spacer from Loogy and he is shipping the rear 20mm spacer today. She still has a long way to go to drive her but one step closer. Oh, and 225/50R18 Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires.

That looks nice. I like those wheels. Never seen them on a Vanagon.

Can't read through the whole thread, has anyone tried 17 inch monoblocks? My second choice are the clk wheels..

boreal Sat Mar 03, 2012 7:09 pm

Here's mine with clk wheel and custom center cap from t3technique.
The drop is from H&R coils and Koni shocks.

Any thoughts on this setup for an 87 Westy Camper?
