| Hey guys, i just found a 57 speedster replica, the PO has really no knowledge of the car mechanically and it's for sale privately, . the car was built in calafornia, but i don't know by who, i've seen the car, it has 2000mi on it since built, i think i was built in 1996, and the original owner had it in his living room as a display peice in calafornia!!! it is mint, perfect paint, interior, roof, engine ect....you can tell it only has 2000mi on it since built, it looks like a 1600DP based motor build with dual deltros, look like 44's, runs very strong, so i'm guessing it's a 2110cc or so, full flow oil, blah, blah..... My question is do you think a mint low mile car like this, being a kit car, is worth ? He was originally asking $25000 in the paper but nobody bought it, actually nobody came to look at it. One funny thing is that it's regestered as a 66 porsche speedster, but it's a later model VW pan, and the vin begins with 119..... looking to me like it's a 75-77 or so vw pan, it has irs, so it's got to be a 69 or later pan, but why is it registered as a 66 porsche when it's a 57 speedster, and for sure a 69 or later pan?? that's the only thing that bothers me, any opinions? 8) |

i bought the car!!!!!  8)
i have a written aprasial from 2003 by a known apraiser in toronto for $35000CDN!!! the guy i bought the car off of was loaded and did'nt really know anything about the car and he payed $30000CDN for it in 2003, it's a kit made in calafornia (i assume like a JPS kit) and it has.....get this......2000mi on it since built!!!!!!!! it is in new condition, absoultly mint, i'll post some pics soon. i think it's a good deal no? it's the regular body, not the wide body, red on tan interior, 1600DP based T1 motor with dual dells. The car runs really strong, my a$$ dyno says about 120hp  |

I'm not too keen on conversion rates, but a turn key JPS Speedster is $24k/US brand new.
JPS kits are actually Vintage Speedster bodies that are tweaked by John. A quick fortelling is the shape of the front fenders. The Vintage Speedster body mould has a major flaw, and every body manufactured by them contains it. Compare both sides, the drivers side is flat (as it should be) But when you examine the Right-side, it domes outwards.
JPS does take a little more time during assembly of their car with some finer detailling. |

I'm not sure about the motor, it looks like a 1600dp based motor, with dual delortos, but it has alot of power, it might be a 1914, has 1.25 ratio rockers and solid rods, but other than that i'd have to take it apart to be sure. The car has 2300Mi on it since built in 1997, it was in a rich guy's loft for 7yrs, and it is asthetically like brand new. 8) i think is a really good deal for basically a brand new speedster kit car, assembled with some options like leather interior (not vinyl), bumperettes, and sway bars front and rear ect, not the typical JPS base model build. The kit is a CMC speedster assembled in Cali, and actually very well done, flawless.
Here's some pics (excuse the crappy lighting, it's dark when i took them; also the wires/hoses under the dash i took out to hook up a stereo 8) ):

| your pics never came through, the motor could be a 1641,1776 or a 1914. what size carbs does it have?12k is a good deal just keep it off the road in the winter up ther or you'll freeze your nuts off. where in canada are you from? i played a little semi pro football up in Nig. falls, stayed over in fort Eire right off the Nig. parkway. |

| You got a good price... although the exchange rate is not as good as it used to be, I see these going for about $15,000 US ($17,ooo CN) with low miles. Must be some reason these have a couple of thousand miles and then they get sold??? |
