As the new owner of a Eurovan camper, and previous owner of a splitty and several barndoors, I'd love to see this site support the eurovan. It would make it so much easier to list and buy parts, and troubleshoot problems. Thanks, Mike

I do not believe there is enough Eurovan-specific content to warrant this split.

As someone who is close to the Vanagon / Eurovan forum, I can clearly understand why the original poster is asking this. 99% of the posts are Vanagon only. The 1% of Eurovan posts get VERY little attention. Now I recall the Vanagon/Eurovan forum was quite dead for some time. It is picking up. The Eurovan threads seem to get lost in the noise. It would help the Eurovan owners a LOT if they had their own forum. As more and more Eurovans get old, the traffic will pick up. It would make a lot of sense to start keeping the Eurovan specific stuff with the Eurovans. The Eurovan is a VERY different animal than the rear engined vans. They deserve their own space, I think.

"That's my opinion, what's yours?"

Thanks,
Walt...

we could throw the EV into the "Other" vehicles forum, with the rest of the water-coolers....

Then they would be even more lost.

How about VWVortex?

Thank you for verifying my belief.

Since there is an ongoing problem with people using description subject lines for their posts, I suggest making sure you use Eurovan in the title of any any new Eurovan threads to increase attention from Eurovan visitors. Do not post it in all caps, of course.

Yeah, this a great one....go on there and you get pop-ups for gay dating sites...............just what I wanted while looking for EV answers. And from what I have seen of this site........it is terrible.

then you need to tweak your browser or switch to another one... I am on the vortex occasionally and have NO pop-ups at all...

I'll chime in here being a multi generation VW owner. The last thing I want is another site to watch. It's nice when I have a Q regarding my 93 ev to just pop over to that forum and ask. It is true that eurovan questions are few and far between but they do seem to get answered, just not with alot of banter. Would it help to have a seperate forum? Maybe, maybe not. The search button is your friend.

Dave... the same argument could be said for Jetta owners.

I got nothing against EVs but i'm surprised they are even here. At least Vanagons were aircooled to begin with. I guess it's a Type 2 thing.

Not the point and I have blocked them now, but how does it bother you that a separate forum is created. It may even bring over some new members who are willing to donate to the site anually, as I and you do.
Makes economic sense to me.

What about www.eurovan.com ?

Looks like there are lots of options. I always figured this was an aircooled site, and vanagons were the exception because they spanned the time period...starting out as air-cooled and ending as water cooled. A eurovan forum would make about as much sense as a new beetle forum, or a Mk V forum. Don't you think?

And why should Samba be an air-cooled site only! I personally own both air-cooled and water cooled, but happened to personally find the Eurovan
a better vehicle for my purpose than a Vanagon. Should this make me an outcast? I think not! If the separate forum was created, more EV owners would begin using it and it would build upon itself.

"I always figured this was an aircooled site, and vanagons were the exception because they spanned the time period."
This statement reminds me of the early days of surfing, where long boards where the only thing available, and then when foam short boards became the vogue, the short boarders began to harass the long boarders.
And that still goes onto today, and I have ridden both all my life.
I see this type of prejudice and elitism has already begun in the VW World, and if you don't get it.......THEY ARE ALL VW'S. And where does it say this an air-cooled site only?

This is the post that counts the most in this thread:

I'm for adding any Forum where the needs justify it. I don't think there are enough Eurovan users to warrant such a split at this time.

More discussion is welcome. Arguing is not.

Being an Aircooled site is what appeals to most people. Others with Watercooled go to vwvortex or whatever it's called. I think it keeps the quality up when you don't generalize a site to make everyone happy. Keep it Aircooled. 8)

its the best vw site on the web =D> but why is it ok for subaru power vanagons to post ? this is the most offensive part of the forum to me. its vanagon/eurovan Discuss 3rd/4th/5th generation Buses not subaru. i say ban all subaru discussion for god sake. i am so sick of subaru people and there stupid engine converions. i have owned aircooled and watercooled powered vws for over 30 yrs. btw can you sell subaru motors ect in the classifieds ? devesvws

I agree! Get rid of the water-cooled Vanagons too, and just make the Vanagon list open to Aircooleds only. They have so many engine problems that don't apply, it ruins the list.

Just to stir it up again...
I'd also like to see an EV category, and I'm sure you'd see a traffic uptick if you did so.
What's to lose?
Pneumatic & Wasser freaks wouldn't have to be bothered by poorly-labeled EV posts, the EV folks wouldn't have to sift through so much to find relevant posts.
I don't understand why you wouldn't do the split.
Is it that you don't want another branch to moderate?
VWVortex is certainly useful, but the search capability is crapola on that forum and it's all a big 'ol gumbo of posts.
Yahoo groups? crazy damn format.

Sooner or later somebody gonna do the EV right with a useable forum structure, and you'll lose out on that bit of traffic.

just my coupla cents.

BTW, thanks for the forum, it's great!

Subarus, we don't need no stinkin' Subarus

You seem to be pretty knowledgeable about how things work here for someone who just registered.

So... what's your other Samba ID?
