Hi I am am using a non-locking 67' Bug steering column and I shortened it 3.5 inches because I wanted the steering wheel to come closer to the dash for a more comfortable driving position..it just stuck way too much out at full length. When I pulled the inner rod out of the outer column piece these little ball bearings flew everywhere..they are a little smaller than your regular BB-gun BB. Does anyone make this steering column bearing all one piece or do you need to place each individual ball in place and then slide the inner rod thru? thx

You can buy a new bearing cup with the ball bearings installed. The bearing cup has the bearing sealed like a regular ball bearing. The ring holding the balls in place on your steering column broke causing the bearings to fall out.

Any mail order parts store has the bearing. there is also a kit with a new bearing, nylon washer and spring.

Try www.cpi1.com. lokk up steering column bearing
