Recently I posted a few pictures of the '67 Beetle that my neighbor gave me. I've had time to get it sorted out for driving, and so far have spent probably thirty hours coaxing the paint back to life. Take a look here:

I think it looks great, and I'm ready to start sprucing up the interior, starting with a detailed inspection of what's under those ancient rubber floormats. There was significant rust in the battery box and in the floor well in front of it, but the metal is still intact and strong, not even close to rusting through. I did the Por-15 treatment to save it for posterity, and will finish the job by installing sound proofing (Accumat) under new floormats. I don't expect problems in other areas of the floor, but will strip it down to be sure. |

| Between this forum and the Oval forum (and one guy in Whittier who got two), there have been almost 10 cars received for free by Sambians within the past 30 days  . 'Tis the season I suppose! Congrats, looks like a nice car... 'specially for free :D (I'm still waiting for someone to give me a free car... :( ) |

Sad to say, those mats are toast. They are so brittle, they broke up when I tried to take them out. So I will have to replace them. |
