| Very nice work. I tried to find these clamps in my town as well when I started my panel. No luck, instead Ive been using realy strong little magnets used for holding metal they work great. |

I saw it on vwrides.com, the only thing you need is a chisel and a hammer and a lot of patience. Those Thai are real masters, my floor ain't 100% original(ribs pattern), but he fits as well and so I'm satisfied
"private weg" means private way ;), it's dutch
This way leads to my garage, so from now on,if you see this traffic sign... Go ahead and knock on the door, you're welcome :D |

harborfreight also sells those clamps. i think they are a 10 pack.i forget the cost though. a friend of mine made me a couple slightly different.and the center part is half the thickness as those eastwood and HF which makes for less of a gap to fill with weld. but they sure are nice for making a level butt weld.
a little more on that...HF vs. EW prices also.

Point to note: The part of the clamps that go inbetween the 2 skins is a bit to thick for my taste thus allowing too much of a gap to weld. I'd either file the clamp thinner or file gap for the clamp but keep the "patch" closer to the correct shape. 8)

You can buy those clamps all the time on Ebay for less than half the price Eastwood sells them for. I got a dozen for $25 from a seller months ago who I see does not currently have any on Ebay right now but when I got them from him he had 100 of them.
Search for: 4 New Butt Welding Intergrip Panel Clamps
And it looks like for about $5 more than Eastwood you can get a dozen where on Eastwood you only get 4 for $27.
Once you get them you'll see how easy they would be to make. And they are nice to have.
Good Luck. |

Yeah, but they are nice and shinny and look like chrome! :P
As if you are taking them to a show or something!
I haven't made myself any since I haven't had the need to butt-weld a piece yet. But they are indeed very easy to make. Just look at that picture, piece of cake! 8) |

I also got a cheap set on Ebay - about a buck a clamp, including shipping...
But as for that bus - WOW!
that's a heck of a job so far! My truck would probably need that much to get it perfect, which is why I haven't started yet... |

That's almost like asking a woman her age!
Unless you are "in it" to make a buck, the most depressing thing to do is to start/keep a list of expenses on such a project. Hell, I started one when I got my previous bus in '87. This was a patina'd driver with no intention to ever become "show" at all. An engine, a tranny, few other very minor and used items later, the list was up to $1500 without much to show for! :o
Did the next best thing and threw the damn list away! :P |

$1500??? What a dream! I could buy 7 buses if I look at my list so far  |

| i was asking just to figure out what he bought it for- for 6k and all the shit wrong with it- i would spend another $1k to buy a ticket and kick the seller in the nads...(i'm guessing all was not disclosed) - hell of a lot of respect for not pushing it off a cliff. |
