It looks like a breather boot for the crankcase breather, but is bent.
Something to let liquid out, but not air back in. |

You have the advantage on me sir. Since the USA didn't offically get the T-3 until 1966, the early ones were not seen as often until someone else had had their hands on them and removed 'unnecessary" parts. |

| If I only had my parts book! Damn I usaly get these. So it is a case breather rubber deal like russ said then. My year guess would have to be like 61-62 when VW coulnt decide how to plumb it all?? |

| Really? I've never seen that one before. The 1961 workshop manual doesn't mention it. A later copy I have says that other boot we're familiar with was introduced in 6/63. |

My '63 doesn't have a downward pipe to mount a seal on.
I guess it's for the breather outlet that travels to the air cleaner? |

Crap I was gona say that but that red paint threw me off!!! :cry:
Find a part charlie and post it up. I used to play this with the T3.Org list. Russ W and Jim A would usualy get them. Ill post when I find a good one. |
