It's got to be somewhere between. It definately isn't spring steel, but it's not regular old mild steel either.

no they arent spring steel and yes you can weld on them

Thats what I'm sayin. No one should be worried. Unless they are jumping their bus.

I would still never run it. Old school straight axle kit is stronger and cleaner looking.

no no no. Only 56 and 57 Brasil models came titanium from the factory.
If you're using HSS, JB weld will work fine.
