| well i got 2 new pan halves for my car, the pans currently in the car are pretty much pieced together and i would like to make things a little neater, im just wondering if i can unbolt the one side of the pan, and then cut the others then just fit my new pan in place and wel on the tunnel side, front and rear, and just bolt in the door side, i think i will probably have an expierinced welder do it for me. |

easy enough to do with time and patience
I got pans at a show for $80/pair. I installed with the body on. As long as the heater channels are good, you can do it in a few hours. Ubolt and cut the entire pan out as best you can. Remove all the welds from the tunnel and in the front ot the pan. you don't have to remove the brake line. I have a work around.
once the pan is out, try and fit the new one n, bolt it up, and then weld it down 1/2 inch weld every 6 - 8 inches.
For the brake line work around, take snips ans cut the old pan from the top down, creating a channel, this way the pan will slide right out, without removing the brake line, and the same thing for the new pan, but make one cut and roll the metal back, once installed roll the metal back in place, and weld it back together. Sounds harder than it is. Much easier than removing the brake line, bleeding the brakes, and possibly spilling fluid.
Check out my Super Pan pics, I haven't posted my standard floor pics yet. www.parkville-bugs.com |
