so judging by this pic, they made them in several different offsets like the US Sprint Stars. |

would be nice to find out some solid info on them......
found this in an old thread
Quote: Yes, the South African sprint stars (we call them Rostyles after the company that made them) were available in 15in and 14in. The 15s were 4.5J, exactly like stock Beetle rims. The 14s were wider, maybe 5.5, but I'm not sure |

The ones i had were 14' and had a mean offset, they are the ones on the primered black bus. The fronts were 4.5, and the rear were 5.5 with about an inch and a half of lip. They are also the set of four laying on the carpet, and the one dirty rim. They now belong to 2Kabrios the person who I got them from originally! |

droppin the knowledge....
Rostyle wheels are 15 inch steel-pressed rims that were manufactured in South Africa specifically for Volkswagen Beetles. Based more or less on the design of the EMPI Sprintstar wheels, they were a stylish addition to any Beetle. Since about 1971 until the end of Beetle production in South Africa in 1979, certain models came standard fitted with Rostyle wheels from the VW showroom floor.
There was even a twin-carb special edition Beetle, called the 1600SP Beetle, which had 14 inch Rostyle wheels. Later, during the 80's, aftermarket Rostyle wheels could still be purchased for buggies or Baja bugs in 14 or 15 inch sizes, with different widths. They were white epoxy coated. These wheels are still fairly common in South Africa, I'd say about 1 in 3 Beetles have them on. I also saw a different 4-stud Rostyle wheel, made for Ford Cortina/Escort/Capri, but no 130mm PCD 4-stud VW version.

Those are Chadd's treasure chest. ratlookvw is his screen name. His Keel's made me get SA Sprints, as they are as close as it gets to those. Don't even try hounding him about em', he'll be buried with them. |
