| OK. Call me nuts, but I have a perfect headliner in my 70 single cab--except it is yellowed and has some nasty stains on it. Rather than rip it out, how about re-coloring it white again. I'm thinking white shoe polish or some fabric dye carefully brushed on. After all I have nothing to lose, the worst that's gonna happen is I rip it out anyway. Anyone tried this? Any products come to mind? I'll let you know what happens. |

you can get some vinyl spray paint and paint it. You can get white, or what ever color you want. if the yellowing is really bad get some of the primer also.
It works great |

The primer is really key.
Very thin coats.
The hard part is cutting and applying the masking tape over the pinpoint holes! |

| Before you try anything drastic, why not just try to clean it up with a mild solution of warm water and bleach. |

I used the vinyl spray to redo a headliner sometime back and was very pleased with the result. It was pretty even coverage and din't scratch off all that easily.
It was a pain in the ass masking off the car's interior, but for the life I got out of it and the money I saved, well worth the aches and pains brought on by the contortions!

| I have also used the spray with great success, it works particularly well on the sunvisors...they are always the first to yellow. WARNING though, there are two types of product out there... the cheap stuff is acually a type of paint that will evenually peel.. the high quality kind is a dye that is thinner and soaks in. I got mine at the local auto body shop supply store, but a lot of fabric stores carry it also. |

I have used a rattle can brand called
"Mar-Hyde" (specifically for vinyl and plastic) they make regular paint so look at the label)) with good success on headliner/visors/door panels ect. |

Straight-up simple green that hasn't been diluted with water (it is concentrate) has taken some bad stains out of vinyl for me in the past. A little elbow grease always works. After cleaning it up, apply a spray on vinyl protectant from Mothers or other manufacturer and it should shine up well enough to get rid of any yellow.
Like doug said, a mild hot water and bleach mixture works well. I use about a 80/20 water/bleach mix. Strong, but effective. |

| Don't spill that bleach solution on the "lower interior", you'll turn your vinyl or carpet white. |

| I have a rip in my headliner, does anyone know of a repair kit? The rest of the headliner is in good condition, and I don't like the sound of replacing the entire thing. |
