Anybody use Por-15 products??/I was thinking of using it on the floor of my thing....

Air-Cooled Head Tue Feb 11, 2003 4:55 pm

Good product.
Follow instructions to the letter.
Don't get it on your skin.

Yustrn Tue Feb 11, 2003 7:26 pm

Yeah it's expensive, but really good stuff and a little goes a long ways.

Pay attention to the skin thing, 2 seconds for it to get on your skin, 2 weeks for you to get it off...make sure you wear gloves and old clothes. Make sure you have some good cleaner if you use a paint gun.

That stuff is great. Ive tried several products and theve all been pretty good. There perfect for floors. Makes it look like new. Highly recommended

Great product, just be sure to mask off anything you don't want it on. It's a bitch to sand. I've sprayed it on everything you can imagine at one time or another. From window sills to ball joints to floors.

If you put POR 15 on your "thing" you'll need to scrub it w/ a stiff bristled brush to get it off...ouch.

I see that a few people have used this product before. Can someone please send me a pic of this product applied to a cars pan. I would like to see what the finished application looks like. Thanks.

bljones Thu Feb 13, 2003 6:09 pm

those who have used it swear by it. the only thing to remember is that it is UV sensitive- if you apply it any place the sun might shine, you will need to topcoat it. For all the info you might want on POR-15, got to http://shoptalkforums.com click on the custom vws forum, and read the "SH*T "thread.

try to apply it on a rainy day because the moisture acts as a catalyst for the adhesion.
Plus there is a product that comes in a cloth sheet like fiberglass that can be painted over with POR-15 that is as good as fiberglass, as strong. Check out www.IPDUSA.com

works great have used it on window frames etc can be scuffed and coated with a primer in about an hour lasts forever keep it off your skin found it is better to drill a hole in the lid than cap it with a screw if the paint gets between the lid and the can the lid will never come off the gas tank sealer is awesome as well a quart will do two tanks split one with a friend or enemy for that matter its cheaper than buying two pints clean the tank with muriatic acis than let it dry seal off the openings with duct tape tahn shake it around also will seal pin holes for the adventerous folks good luck

I have a question for you all. Lets see now. I need advice on this look I'm going for. Right now since all the brake crap is out of the car Im cleaning all the junk (I mean ALL) 33 year olds (cars) are dirty mofos. What I plan to do is put some of that Por-15 Gloss black stuff all over the front axle beam. Then, I want to polish/chome (one of the two) the tie rods and the sway bar. After that I would like to get all stainless steel bolts so it will give it that finishing touch. Good Idea??? Also would it look good if I used the gloss black stuff on the pans (Underneath)?

I bought mine at the local "HOT ROD" store. The place I went to is called "Vintage Ford" up here in Sacramento. I would try places like that.

Travis,

Where do you live?

Scott

travisstephens77@hotmail. Thu Feb 20, 2003 5:56 am

The wonderful city of Raleigh. I've lived here pretty much all of my life but I'm getting ready to leave in a few months, as soon as the bus gets done and I get to a point where the company I work for can get along ok if I leave.

BTW, the westy I bought 2 weeks ago is a 1975, it's orange for now.

I guess I'll check some store around here, just not alot of performance car places here.
