| o.k. here is another quest. what is used to make tinted primer? is regular paint mixed in or is it something special? if i wanted blue primer,would i start with gray primer or? |

A) They use pigments just like in paint. Don't know the chemical formulation, but it pigments. I guess you could buy from your supplier.
B)What does the primer color matter? You're gonna paint over it, no? |

| you would use a base color just like a paint base to tint your primer. NOt all primers are tintable. You would start with what ever color primer you wanted to acheive the color. since it is a rarity to find a white primer you can just use gray and tint it. You also can just shoot some tinted sealer over the top of the primer. But then if you are that far in the paint process you may as well paint the damn car |

| some primers can be tinted some cannot. it is generally the same tint as the paint. ppg has a 270 tintable primer it is only available in gallons. It uses the standard dmd tint it is more expensive but will save you on paint used grey to blue should not be too difficult. unless it is a very dark blue. PPG also had a product a few years ago called global system that was designed for this. I have heard little on this and many I talked to had alot of problems with it. ask your supplier if it can be tinted |

| shouldnt use tinted primer because the color of the primer may bleed through when it gets paint thous turning your paint job a different color. white and gray are the best nuetral colors. but if just leaving the primer as a paint job the paint store can mix it for u but most of the primers that are tinted come out pastel.waterborne primers can be mixed with tint from home depot so u can create any color u want |
