| I have raw metal engine tin the i want to paint, would i have any problems if i painted the doghouse, cyl tins and others with automotive base coat and then spray a clear coat on it. Im just not sure if i have to use heat paint on it. All input would be helpful |

I've seen it done w/ basecoat, don't know about the clear.
I've seen rattle-can paint jobs look good on the tin too. |

| The paint will be fine on the tin. Won't last on the exhaust or the heat riser tubes. You need POR exhaust paint or ceramic coating for that to last. |

| powder coating will hold the heat on the engine tin. There are several different heat temps avaiable for Powder coating. (high heat etc) |

| I bought the Harbor Freight $70 powdercoating setup. Haven't used it yet, but when I do, I'll see if I can find this thread and give my results. |

Yeah a buddy was replacing his electric stove so I took it off his hands and parked out out in back of the garage under a tarp. Plan is that when I'm ready to use it, I'll screw some little $3 apiece casters on the bottom and roll it into the garage where my 220 plug is. Then I can roll it back outdoors when I'm done with it.
I hope it works well.
BTW I also got my stock 36hp muffler ceramic coated matte silver. Amazing, although the coating cost as much as the muffler it will always look brand new! |

Make sure when you use the oven get one of the cheap oven thermometers to double check the oven temps. Some of the older ones if the thermal couple gets old can be off. If you have any questions about powder coating let me know I have been spraying the stuff most of my life. Also be careful with the instructions with that gun some of the stuff isn't correct.
