On the flip side, the one thing that I've found really positive about them, is that if I need something really quickly, they ship faster than any other parts house I've found. I've literally waited for weeks for items from some of the west coast suppliers, but received items in two days from MAP, because they're in Illinois.
It takes some vendors weeks just to ship.
I tried Mid America twice last year and their shipping is great. Usually next day shipping and it would take a day travel time. I ordered parts on a Sunday and got them Wed.
Other vendors want you to pay out the ass to get your parts shipped that quickly. Too bad they have crappy prices on crappy parts. |

| I agree that they are a little pricey. But I have ordered from them several times. shipping is always fast, and they seem very honest about the items they carry. For example if something is backordered they tell you how long it will be and if they don't know they're honest about that too. So as far as I'm concerned I will continue to order from them just for the gret service |

I don't know who you've tried, but most places ship same day if you order early enough, and whatever missed the truck goes out the next day.
Unless you're talking about private sellers, ebay, mom & pop places, I've never had things sit for "weeks" before getting shipped, from any vendor, for any of my "hobbies".
Even then, "weeks" is a bit of a stretch, no? |

Since they are not phased by my calls, and they love to lurk on the Samba I might as well post up here.
I ordered a bunch of miscellaneous parts from them, most were fairly comparable in price and quality to other suppliers I decided to order from them my last time. The vantage point they have for me and why I did was because the transit time for a standard ground package is only two days.
I called today for the second time inquiring on the one item that was back ordered since March 25th, which was a seat bottom cushion. Nothing fancy but a seat bottom cushion. I called them April 12th, and they said that they would have them in stock on 21st. With that said I decided I could wait a little longer, but of course nothing appeared. Today the fine representative stated that they would be in on the 31st. I stated to her that the last time I called I was told that they would be in on the 21st, and how are you sure they will be in on the 31st? She stated that she can only go off of what her computer tells her. How could a seat cushion take five plus weeks, is the boat stuck in low water in China?
I will wait until the 31st and give one last call, since I don't want to incur an additional shipping charge since this will be free. I honestly feel they arrogance in their posts on the Samba and my personal contacts with them (I had a few others) warrants a negative.
P.S. - Mid-America when I was at your "Funfest" last year and picked up that Corvette part for a friend, I asked you not to put me on your Corvette catalog mailing list. Please make it stop? |

I have had an in stock part take 3 week from a Colorado parts supplier, not Rocky Mountain. |

| Think about it, when you have about 50 people in overhead you have to sell POS parts to keep cost down. You need your customer to pay high profit margins in order to offset overhead operating costs. It cannot be cheap to send out a 100 page color catalog to every VW owner in the US each month. |
