The site is running again as of Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 8:15 AM PST.

Unfortunately due to multiple server failures the night of Saturday, February 10, 2007, we lost some data. The site has been restored back to what existed around January 28, 2007.

All new user accounts and classified ads over the past 2 weeks were lost. Sorry. please re-register and repost as needed.

For work done over the past 2 weeks:
New Accounts/Profile changes:
If you registered a new account or edited your profile in the past 2 weeks, you will have to sign up again or re-do your changes. Click on Register in the upper left to register. Click on Control Panel in the upper left of the site to edit your profile.

Classifieds
If you placed an ad, edited your ad(s), renewed your ad(s), or deleted ad(s), you will have to re-do the changes.

Featured ads
If your ad was already in the system, we are working on re-featuring it. This should be done by the end of day today.
If you placed a new ad within the missing 2 weeks and featured it, we have refunded your Paypal payment. Please post your ad again and re-feature it.

The same goes for Bold Ads and Extra Photo Ads

Gallery
All photos from Jan. 28, 2007 onward are missing - please repost.

Forums
Some posts were lost - repost your questions as needed.

Premium Memberships
Anyone who paid within the last two weeks with be renewed again as of today so the "lucky" few will get up to 2 weeks free.
If you were a new member, your membership $ has been refunded.
You will have to re-register and re-sign up for the premium membership.

VW Club, Business, Show Listing, or Links
If you submitted a VW Club, Business, Show Listing, or Link after 1/27, you will need to resubmit it. If you requested an existing listing be edited or deleted since 1/27, please re-send that request.

Banner Advertisers
All banners have been extended 3 days to compensate for the time TheSamba.com was down.

What happened?
Non-technical version:
The Samba server has 2 hard drives. They are copies of each other so the site just runs off one of the drives while keeping the second one updated at all times. Hard drive #1 failed. Normally this is not a problem as the site would run off drive #2 without anyone knowing. Unfortunately it turned out the second drive had failed its live updating without my knowledge so the backup drive, drive #2, was out of date by quite a bit. Unfortunately this means I had to do a restore from my alternate back-up on my home computer, which unfortunately was 2 weeks old.

thanks again for the site and all your work....its been appreciated for a long time. i havent sold much in the past year plus to add up to anything for the suggested 1%-2% donation but i think its time to pitch in. i assume its safe to do that.

Way to be patient and get things done. Just out of couriosity, what did happen? Hard drive failure? Database corrupted? Hacker? Ghost cows?

Anyway, thanks for getting the site back up, Mr. Nerves of Steel.
