I completely like it! I am not thinking about making a complete drum per say but more of a faux cover made out of billet aluminum. Thinking maybe 5x205mm and 5x130mm. Just slide over your factory drum or rotor and have that clean looking faux drum behind your favorite wheel. It would be about 1/8"-3/16"- thick on the back pad. What do you think? Any and all opinions are wanted!

would it have a removable grease cap in the centre - could you run a stock rim with no hub cap?

I absolutely love the look, but would never run a fake cover for it. Many people however probably would. Have you given any thought as to whether heat dissipation would be a concern, ie. liability?

I saw exactly what you are discribing being sold at the Classic's about 6 yrs ago. I do not recall who was offering them.

I would be interested if I ran wide fives with certain rims, they sure look cool.
The last 3 cars I have run, didn't have wide fives though except the stocker I restored. So no, me likey the Fuchs.

I love 356 B brakes but I wouldn't run a fake cover just for looks.

I might run a repop finned aluminum Porsche drum with cheaper wheel cylinders and shoes.

I can respect all your opinions and answers. I just got one of the drums in today and its pretty large. I put them behind a big billet wheel and it looked pretty trick too. I have no idea what it will cost to make yet est @ $200 for a set of 4, much cheaper than purchasing the brakes IMO, it would definitely dress up the behind the wheels-no more rusty or flat black drums and it would also be less then updating to a set of disc's. I am just thinking about everyone.

if the cost were at 200.00 than yes I think I would , I also think plenty of others would as well. I think it was volksworld a few months back maybe even the same car in the pics skim showed, that ran fake covers just for the look. Looks great to me.

Wheelskins makes a 356 style cover (w/o "fins"). I've used them for years on my Intermechanica Speedster

I would think about running a set behind my fuchs until I get the coin for some discs.

Real ones greatly limit the wheels you can use.
I know this firsthand. I now have a set of "b" brakes sitting in my shop with nothing to put them on.

Alot of the Porsche crowd run these when they upgrade to disc brakes to keep the apperance of the finned drums.

nice thats what i would do. too bad my bug with discs is on smoothies.....
