Any of those badges that have that marking on the back of "Ges Gesch" means patent pending I believe.
A dead give away for fakes.

That is correct...............none of those were ever sold, or meant to be sold. Ges Gesch was required on all items that were approved for sale during the Third Reich. Doesn't make sense, does it. The originals have no marking and are not cast like both of those fakes. The first one sells for $15 on eBay all the time. The second one may hit $60 because it is not seen as often.......the interesting thing is that it is a much poorer fake of the original than the first example is.

Here's a fake on ebay with 12 hours left at $46.64

Don't read german but I think he's claiming it is original.

The world seems full of suckers for this pin. With the price of real one over $600.............what's he think he's getting.

I thought that both epay and Germany had prohibitions against picturing items with swastikas...

I do, and it only took me thirty years to find it.

Post yours up on ebay..............you won't get $100 total. Those fakes have been around for years. The second one came out of England by way of Canada about three years ago. Several have the exact same number and are as poorly stamped as yours are. An original also has a grove under the numbers that is colored coded for the section of the plant the worker worked in. Keith Shume has written an article on both badges. It might be worth your reading. It was featured in Hot VW's several years ago.

I would suggest anyone interested in buying what they think is a real KDF pin, contact Simon Mitchell in Germany. He is considered by many to be the qualified expert on these pins.

He well be happy to keep you from wasting your money on the junk that is being sold as original.

Here is an original sold about eight years ago:

http://www.worldwidestore.com/BD318c.htm

Bill mentions its weight........It is 1.9 grams if it is original. Anything heaver is a total fake regardless of its detail. Weight is everything when it comes to these pins. They seem so light you would think that they are plastic, but they are a tin alloy.
