Thanks Jeremy. Your bus is too. When you started on that I thought there was no way it would ever be a whole bus again. Amazing work!

Nice job Tim. This is my first time through the whole thread. Inspiring. The work I did on our Westy is so minor in comparison. I love welding but I dunno if I love welding enough to tackle a project like yours. I guess once you realize what you're in for, you've got to keep going. It's not as if it wasn't repairable.

Two big thumbs up!

Thanks man. I knew there was a lot of work with this one needing a front clip, that much was obvious. After starting and finding way more than I bargained for it was either quit (not usually my style) and sell it, or just keep at it when I can. I wanted a DC bad enough to keep going, and I dont work on it when not motivated to prevent myself doing horrible work.

Lots of bondo hid a multitude of sins.

lol. Could be worse.

Wow, ummm, ahh ...... I'm speechless.

TimGud Thu Apr 05, 2007 2:21 pm

A bit more progress on the front clip. Spot welding this has been a chore as the spot welder is heavy and needs to be at eye level to see what I'm doing. Maybe I need to find a new hobby!? Doors had to come off as well to do this job. I lucked out and none of the door bolts broke.

To do the dash front clip and windshield frame portion the dash has to be in place (because of the brace below the dash) but lowered to spot weld the front clip to the windshield. Will raise the dash back in place afterward and weld it in place.

TimGud Fri Apr 06, 2007 4:26 pm

Front clip is done other than grinding and a few minor holes to fix down on the lower portion.

Dash is almost done. Just need to do the welds along the A pillar.

You dont know how happy I was to have it come out this straight.

Couldnt use the spot welder to weld the dash to the windshield frame as it (spot welder) wouldnt fit in there. Drilled 3/16" holes instead and plug welded them.

Looks great Tim

Roamingwesty Thu Apr 12, 2007 7:50 pm

Damn Tim. With all the beautiful work already done, even sitting on the project for the next 3 months not moving forward will look justified! You don't need encouragement, you need a break! :)

I cannot say anything more than what's said above from all the Samba heavies. Keep at it bro. One weld at a time. Look at the old pics, including the ones you decided not to upload. You've gone thus far. Just a few steps more each day.

And can I bring mine over when yours is done haha.

No, you can't bring your bus here when I'm done!

I'll have to go and work with you at your place.

stephenmullens Tue May 08, 2007 10:45 pm

Tim, that's great looking work and very inspiring.

TimGud Wed May 09, 2007 11:27 am

Thanks kiddo, and Stephen. I've done more work to it since the last pictures but its mainly just grinding welds and hammer/dolly work on the seams and the pictures look the same as what you've seen. Need to do some more shrinking on the clip, and fill a couple of holes in the dash before I can put it in the booth and shoot primer on it. Will post new pics then.
The quality of your restorations currently underway are damn nice Stephen.

awe... I'm in it.

Nice Tim!
