Forgot my camera, cant seen to get good ones from the one at work. The parts are white in person, not beige.

Lots of bondo hid a multitude of sins.

Been there done that,
Nice work man, an artist never appreciates his work until he sells it. If even then.

Some advise: They make an attachment to go on spay guns to get a plastic nozzle down into hidden areas. So you can load up those areas with primer sealer..damn if I know what they call em. Saw them in an.... "I-Car" video years ago.

Test fit the heater/defrost tube today. Installed the kick panels to make sure it all lines up and it did. Will weld it in shortly. Ended up having to cut and grind all the old factory welds to assemble it on the bus. Hope to have the front clip in primer this afternoon after welding this on.

I've done a lot of bodywork and my sons have too since I last posted pics of the truck. All the straight panels have been done by my teenagers as I've been teaching them. Lots of shrinking dolly/hammer work and a skim coat sanded flat.

All bare metal parts primered with self etching primer.

Cargo floor welded in and ground down.

Front clip , dash, floor backside of front clip primered.

Will repair the door sill later

I ran across an old picture of the front clip that I had spray painted POS onto and thought I'd post it as a before and after shot.

Tim, is this a truck rear bumper or a bus rear bumper. If you are putting a bus rear bumper on your truck you may run into problems with the bumper rubbing the corners. You may already know this, so hopefully it will benefit readers. Anyway the rear corners of VW trucks are squared off, while buses have rounded corners. This cuases some issues when using bus bumpers on singles and doubles.

Anyway, tim, your DC looks great.

Thanks for the heads up but I did know that, just forgot to clearance the upper side of the bumper at the corners. Will do so later, wetsand the bumper, and shoot it again.

I did not have to notch my rear bumper on the '59 SC Tim. It's close but no need to cut the bumper. Do a test fit with your sons help first before you cut.
Batterys are dead in the digi or I would take a pic for you.

Thanks Lou.

The passenger side long panel's done (mostly). The hinge area needs work and there are a couple of blemishes to remove.

Awesome work Tim. It's great you're teachin the youngins some body work skills.

TimGud Sat Aug 11, 2007 4:18 am

Put a guide coat on all the panels that are close to being done. Now its down to primer/block sand. Need to finish up the welding too by the door (C-pillar area) and the rear window.
