I know I'm gonna get hazed cause I dont have "the Bentley".....yet.... but I just got my rabbit last Saturday and I'm a little anxious. Basically I'm not getting any fire at the plugs. It appears the PO installed new cap, rotor, points, plugs, wires and coil. I checked for power at the coil and have 12vdc present on both terminal 1 and 15 with the key on. Should there be 12v on terminal 1? Secondly, the 7th fuse from the left shorts immediately when installed (key off), what circuit is this?

vehicle is a 79' rabbit C

thanks in advance and I promise to get the Bentley eventually....

You got several things more to check, the pick up inside the dist could be bad. If you have coil power, then your issue is inside the dist. I'd check power into the coil then trace it down to the pickup

I checked vdc into what I believe is the ballast resistor ( on the side of the distributor) and its 12vdc into it and 6vdc out to the condenser. As i probed around the points I accidentally grounded them to the distributor, there was an arc then I heard 1 or 2 things cycle in the engine bay and then all was quiet again. I then had my wifey hit the key and I got spark at the points so I reinstalled the rotor and cap and checked for spark at no.1 plug...sparkin but not startin :( . I'll be verifing engine time and givin her a little direct injection this weekend...just to verify/eliminate any fuel delivery problems........stay tuned

Well it's fuel related. Had the wifey turn the engine over whilst I sprayed a little go-go juice into the throttlebody and she fired right up! Sooooo, when I turn the key to ignition I do not hear the fuel pump. When I crank the engine and then stop I hear the fuel pump run for a second or two and then shut off. Shouldn't the pump prime in the key on position? Or just when the engine is cranking? Thanks for the help
