Here is what my old Type 4 engine looks like with the original fan shroud on it in my beetle. Then the after with the type 4 911 fan shroud conversion. It runs about the same temp as far as I know.
Enjoy. |

If you're thinking of doing the conversion go here

I'm surprised no one's mention Jake Raby, he's the type 4 guy. You should conver to upright if going into a bug, and he markets the DTM shroud, which is expensive, but WORKS. |

With the lid closed. I split the lid and shifted the lower portion back about 6 inches then moulded it back to fit the body. The wing hides the shift. When open, the entire lid with the wing, tail lights and lower filler pieces, lift for easy access.
Not pretty but fully functional. Porsche 2.0 Fuel Injected. Cooling has not been an issue. Functional air intakes in front of rear wheels feed air to engine bay. I monitor engine oil temp and engine bay air temp. Engine oil runs about 190 deg F while bay temp holds to within a few deg of ambient outside temp. When parked the engine bay heats up to about 110 deg but quickly cools down when restarted.

Great pic. Actually it is a 2702 type IV. dynoed at 176 horse at the wheels. Just rebuilt it with some Berg 48's and some headwork by Tim's ACVW.
Just ordered the A-1 exhaust, should be going into the car in the next week or so. |
